AP Chem: What to Memorize

Hi everyone!

Background knowledge: I just recently movede, and upon registration at my new school, I was told there was no summer assignments. (BIG BIG lie.) Later, when I checked with a different counselor, I got a lot of work. I now have 7 days to do what everyone else had the whole summer to do.

For the AP Chemistry class and exam, what is normally expected to be memorized? (I did e-mail my teacher, but I want to get a head start over the weekend.) I came from NY state, where we get this massive reference table, so I have absolutely nothing (like charges, or even the names of uncommon elements) memorized.

Are we expected to know the charges on the transition metals? How do you recommend memorizing them? What else should I be memorizing.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Things to memorize, so to speak, should be charges of common metals (alkali, alkaline, copper, zinc, silver, manganese, tin, lead, etc.). Memorize reaction prediction (combustion, synthesis, decomposition, redox) and know naming and solubility rules. Also know all atomic trends and how they correlate to everything else.
