AP Chemistry or SAT Chemistry?

Hello,
I am currently a sophomore in high school taking honors Chemistry. My parents sent me to a nearby learning center to take an AP Chemistry course in hopes that I would take both the AP Chemistry and SAT Chem test by the end of the year. However, the teacher for the AP Chem course doesn't really "teach" the material but instead gives overviews every lesson on topics covered in the AP exam. I've went to class about 3 times now and I'm just getting lost. My parents think that taking AP Chem might be too hard for me and want to pull me out of the class. I was just curious to see if it's necessary to take the AP Chem test? I will be taking the AP Physics next year as a junior for sure but is the AP Chem completely necessary? I know I have to take the SAT Chemistry because I bombed the SAT Bio and have no score to submit in terms of the sciences. Additionally, I'm currently taking AP Psychology at school and I'm positive I will take the AP exam for that class since I like it so much. I'm not sure if that will play a part in me not taking the AP Chemistry test. I hope all of that made sense, thank you!

As someone who’s taken sat chem after chem honors i would say only take sat chem.

Doesn’t your school offer AP chemistry and AP physics? It is not necessary to go to outside classes if they already do.

There are specific reasons people take Physics or Chemistry SAT IIs. They have taken the appropriate AP level classes and so they know the material or they need the scores to apply to specific schools which require them.

I took both as a sophomore last year (AP class, AP test, SAT test).
the Chem AP test is definitely wayyyyy harder than the SAT test because there’s free response to worry about.

Don’t worry about it, and continue going to the AP class. It REALLY REALLY helps if you’ve taken it. After I took the AP test in May, I took the SAT in June and made an 800 with barely any extra studying.
