Ap chemistry post test discussion [2011]

ok lets talk abt actualy questions. do any of u guys remember the ochem question where it was like which one is most soluable in water or which one was most acidic? and all of the compounds had hydrogen bonds? and how abt the one with a hydrate? the moles of h20 found were too low. (i) (ii) (iv)?
and whatdu get for the mass percent ag for that one frq?

PM me if you guys wanna check… i think thats allowed

You guys really should not be discussing the FRQ’s right now.

http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/ap-tests-preparation/163387-ap-announcement-warning.html

poop, I put gold :(

which one is most soluable in water or which one was most acidic? and all of the compounds had hydrogen bonds? last one def.
and how abt the one with a hydrate? which one?
the moles of h20 found were too low. (i) (ii) (iv)? no only 2 i think
and whatdu get for the mass percent ag for that one frq? 64%

That AP Chem. calculator is really a confidence booster. Thanks! M/C I thought was okay, meaning not too hard and not too easy, but more to the easy side. FRQ could’ve studied more… Kinda bombed it…

lol if you talk about the AP exam and they find you they can invalidate your score (yes, it has happened before that someone has had their score invalidated from posting on this site) so it is best to just not talk about it now

^^^exactly

I actually thought the MC was easier than any practice test ive done…but frqs…***…

As I look over the material my score goes from (on the MC) a 70…65…60… lol :P

how do u delete posts from here? sorry im new here

This is totally unrelated to today’s test, but germanium is a semiconductor and substances that ionize in water are good conductors. Just saying.

ah yes. thank you lowell, i was looking for good semiconductors for the . … battery i’m trying to make. ;]

I know what ya mean yuki, I wish I would have made a battery last night >:*(

I don’t understand why people have difficulty with the first free response. Have none of you done ICE boxes before?

Just write out a reaction… then under neath it write the initial concentrations… change… equilibrium… not that hard.

Since the HCL complete dissociates you can treat it as if it reacted with the NH3 completely to form 0.067 molar NH4+. Then just do the normal pKb thing.

AAAND there’s the whole Henderson–Hasselbalch equation.

Seriously, lots of ways to do this if know chemistry.

I’m pretty sure it was on released FRQ’s I did, too…

Let’s see…
out of 1999, 2002, 2008 and this MC, this was around the 2nd hardest but still not too bad. The math based calculations were fairly straightforward, the lab based questions as always screwed me over, and the sole nuclear chem question that was actually much easier than I thought it was…I missed it T__T I ran out of time and had to educated guess on 3 of them. I predict around 55-65/75.

The FRQ? Honestly? I thought it was easy…but the time limit was an issue, definitely

 1. Pretty straightforward. Part D…or C? took me a while though (8/9) [might have missed conceptual question on it]
 2. This was sort of challenging due to its lab based portion. I got very nice numbers for the rest so I’m fairly sure I did them right. (6/10) [not sure about lab, thus I’m penalizing myself entirely. I think I did it right but don’t know]
 3. Another easy one! The electrochemistry was very easy and I got a very nice number for it. I assume I did it right. The thermochem part of it was odd…I think I might have got the first part wrong, but every thing after that was fair game. (8/9)
 4. Easiest reactions I’ve seen to date. I know I missed part 1 b though, so I expect a (14/15) for it.
 5. This was also very very easy. Honestly, the concepts were much easier than other conceptual based FRQ. (8/9) [might have described one of the two reasons wrong]
 6. This one was a joke…either you knew it or you didn’t. (7/8) [might have missed A]

My school found the test a joke…everyone was ecstatic after it was over ^___^

i honestly did find the frq’s easy, but judging from cc’s reaction to the test - i probably misunderstood the problem somehow, thought it was easy, and failed. but i don’t think we even needed a real icebox for this year’s frq… and YUMI but yes
“mathis” [har har, could actually be a name] should have joined me in my germanium party yesterday tsk . but seriously, your teacher didn’t teach you metalloids?

@nostalgic FINALLY someone else’s school who thought it was easy. maybe we got different forms from everyone else but with same topics or something… the semi-unanimous reaction from cc that the test was hard is bizarre…

I got at least a 65 on the MC. Some of the FRQs were tricky, but the net ionic questions were some of the easiest I’ve ever seen, and there were a lot of easy points in the FRQs.

Considering that most people on CC are high(er) achievers and everyone thinks it was hard, I think the curve should be pretty good this year.

The FRQs were ridiculously difficult this year.

I am preforming a lab tomorrow and I was wondering if I should wash my hands with tap water thoroughly after messing with some reagents? :stuck_out_tongue:

Is it safe for me to do this?
