AP Chemistry Teacher Lost My Homework... Got An F :(

Hello! I’m looking for some advice because my AP Chemistry teacher lost the problem-set I handed-in and now he refuses to accept it and gave me an F. I had an A in the class and now I have a C. What should I do?

Talk to the teacher again. Explain how upset you are. Don’t blame him, just reiterate you did turn in the assignment and ask him to reconsider in light of your past performance and previous grades.

If you don’t get anywhere, explain the situation to your parents. Bring them in on this. Make an appointment to sit down with your guidance counselor. Get your parents help in escalating this.

Do you have a copy of your work? These days much of the homework is saved on the computer or turned in online. For a project not saved, it’s not a bad idea to take a picture with your phone, or scan the document. If you don’t have a copy of your work, you’ll probably need to redo it.

I am sorry this happened to you, but do push back on it.

Don’t get in an argument with your teacher. I advise to bring this issue to your parents. Maybe a nicely worded email could work. If not, a face to face could settle this.

I would talk to my parents and have them get involved.
Do you have any evidence? Files? Photos? Did you do the homework in a notebook and there is the impression of your pencil on the next page?

If you don’t have a copy of your homework, then try to find as much proof that you did do it. Get your parents or counselor involved and see what they can do.
