So, I’m currently taking AP Calc AB this year and it’s not going well right now (I have a C). All of my other classes are honors (my honors gov will switch to AP macro next semester) and I have A’s in them. In addition to these classes, my school has a dual enrollment with the college campus we’re on and I got an A- in my elective course (a regular college class) and a B+ in my combined class (we have a professor from the college and a teacher from our high school). Over the past summer, I also did a pre-college program and received an A there as well.
As I’m finishing up my applications, I’m really stressing over my calc grade because it’s so low and even if I get a 100 on my midterm (which probably won’t happen) my grade will still be a C.
With all that being said, how will colleges view this score and how will it affect my application?
They will view it as a C. How much this impacts the application depends on the college.
Applications, and transcripts, are a portfolio of strong and weak points. This will obviously be a weak point. The degree to which it impacts your application depends on the strength of the remainder of the data and the school.
It is what it is - continue to work hard, talk with your teacher to explore options for improvement, etc.
I suggest you try study differently. Do more practice problems. Watch Khan Academy videos.
