This year is my Junior year and I'm taking 3 AP's- APES, AP English III, and AP Biology. I am wondering how these three courses compare in difficulty- how are the classes and exams? From what I hear APES is somewhat of a joke, yet the score distributions belie this. Bio and English seem to be harder.. any feedback/advice? Thanks

From what I’ve heard, APES is an easy class but the exam scores are pretty low. Maybe that’s because a lot of people don’t feel the need to study for the exam since it was so easy in class. My school doesn’t offer it so I don’t have any personal experience with it, but the concepts don’t seem too difficult to learn. I would still study for the exam though even if it seems really easy.

I’m not sure if by AP English III you meet Literature or Language, but I took AP Lang last year as a junior and I found it to be extremely easy (both the class and the exam). I’m taking AP Lit right now as well and it seems even easier than Lang so far. Whichever class it is, you shouldn’t have a problem as long as you can read and write pretty well. Writing isn’t my strong suit and I still did fine. My only advice to you would be to actually read the books you’re assigned in class; lots of the kids in my class didn’t and it affected their test scores pretty badly.

I’m in AP Bio right now and I love it so far. We did a practice AP exam before we starting learning anything, and the multiple choice was pretty difficult since we hadn’t learned the concepts yet but the free responses were a lot easier than I thought they would be. I’ve heard that it’s really important to understand all of the labs. I just do notes as I read the textbook to help me retain the information and it seems to be okay so far. The percentage of 5’s on the exams are extremely low, though, so I’m pretty nervous for that already.

Overall, your AP’s don’t seem too bad. APES and English should be a breeze. Good luck. :)

@ashleybear97 thanks for the reply! And sorry for not specifying I meant AP Lit
