AP Credit at UCSD

Hello, although I have not committed to a college yet, I am leaning towards studying Linguistics- Speech and Language Sciences in Thurgood Marshall College at UCSD. Due to COVID-19, we are given the option if we want to take our AP tests or receive a refund. I am taking my other 2 AP tests, but I’m not sure about AP Literature. I passed the AP Lang exam and, according to the AP credit chart, AP Lang and Lit are 8 credits each with an 8 credit maximum for each test. A passing score covers the Entry Level writing requirement. For Marshall, it’s 8 units of elective credit and clears Entry Level Writing requirement.

Could the Lang exam count for the writing requirement and the Lit exam count for elective credit? If my AP Lit credit does not count, I plan to get a refund since my school charged me $165 each and I could divert my attention to my other exams.

As I interpret UCSD’s AP credit policy (as to Marshall), by having passed AP lang (3,4,5), you satisfied both UCSD’s entry level writing req AND will get the maximum 8 units of elective credit that can be awarded for having either passed one AP English test or both AP English tests. Taking AP Lit doesn’t really offer any additional benefit as to AP credit. I’d ask for a refund.

From https://www.ucsd.edu/catalog/pdf/APC-chart.pdf , it looks like if you score a 3 or higher on one AP English exam, the other AP English exam does not add anything extra for unit credit or subject credit, except if you are in Warren College where literature could cover a requirement that language does not.
