AP Credit confusion

I searched in other threads and on Northeastern's website, but couldn't find a clear answer. I'm just wondering if it is worth taking the AP English Literature exam this year if I already earned a 5 on the AP English Language exam last year. On NU's website, all I could find was this:

"A student taking both English exams will earn 1 course of ENGL1111 worth 8SH. The additional 4SH are not to be applied to requirements other than Freshman writing."

I read elsewhere that earning a 4 or 5 on either test will exempt you from the first-semester Freshman writing course (ENG1111?), but what I gather from the above is that the extra 4 semester hours cannot be used for anything else. If so, is there any point in taking the other exam, or will the extra credit be essentially worthless? I'm majoring in electrical engineering, if that helps. Thanks in advance.

If you pass both tests you get 8 credits instead of just 4 for either one. These extra credits might come in handy later on. They are noted on your transcript as 8 credits for required freshman English instead of just 4 credits.

The extra credits are purely in case you needed extra hours to graduate by a certain time. You need a particular amount of hours to graduate, so trying to graduate early might mean you don’t have enough hours… Most people don’t run into the problem, but then again I was only a few hours over my graduation requirement (and I took summer classes).
