junior year i took AP english lang and scored a 5 on the exam. as a senior i am participating in my school’s dual enrollment program and taking second level english composition (eng102). i think some schools consider AP english as eng101 (or their course equiv) and some take AP english for what would be considered the equiv of the english 102 class i am taking now. my main concern is it going to hurt my admissions chances to have what some schools consider a “repeat” of the same class, but others don’t?? (a minor concern is if they will give me credit for it). spring semester i am planning on taking a 200 level english lit course at the college if that helps. my top school is northeastern university.
We’re told that since some schools do AP Lit in 11 and then AP lang in 12th or vice versa many colleges simply give the first AP credit for the first English and the second for the second English regardless of order. However some colleges only give 1 English credit for the first English no matter how many English AP classes you’ve taken and scored a 5 in. According to this it looks they count for the same class at Northeastern so you might only get credit for one. https://www.northeastern.edu/admissions/wp-content/uploads/2016/09/AP-Chart-2016.2017.pdf
thanks for the reply! I’m just hoping that colleges wont look down on it like i’m “repeating” a class.
I think your reading too much into it. I don’t think colleges are going to think anything other than your finishing off your high school graduation requirements. My daughter is taking the second college English as dual enrollment this semester. It just started but she asked me to print out the syllabus and it looks like it is very much writing and research based.
