Ap credit scores

<p>On the topic of the AP score, does a UC give credit based off how much UC's give credit or the CC? Let's say at a CC a 3 on the Lang/Comp test and the U.S history test grants 6 units. UC's say they will give 10.67 semester units for those scores. </p>

<p>In the case that I need 30 units by this summer to be eligible for TAG, If i had 18 Assist certified credits along with a 4 credit class over the summer, that would bring me to 22 credits. Will I get 6 credits from the CC and achieve 28 units, or reach 34.67 units based on what UC's give?</p>

<p>Each UC will evaluate your AP credits differently. Just because the CC may give you X credits it does not mean that you can directly apply those X credits towards a UC. Some UCs will require a certain score and some may not even accept them.</p>

<p>UCs have a uniform policy on credit units, but differing policies on subject credit and placement.</p>

<p>Credit units for AP courses at UC are described here: [University</a> of California - AP credits](<a href=“University of California Counselors”>University of California Counselors)</p>

<p>Click on the campus names to find subject credit and placement policies for each campus. For Berkeley Letters and Science (and perhaps others), you would also need to go to each major’s web site to see its AP credit policy (the ASSIST listings should also have that).</p>

<p>@onlyhaikusplease I’m just reading this late but the 22 units are semester units at your CCC and the AP of 6 units are semester units from your CCC. So your total would be 28 semester units based on your CCC. So you will be two short when you apply. Whatever happens later with the UCs is another story. Don’t try and second guess. Add two units.</p>

<p>BTW, I believe all UCs are uniform with the granting of the English AP credits. Unless the history AP is related to a major pre-requisite you should be fine, but as they said above, check. But regardless of that, still add 2 units.</p>

I have some questions about AP scores. Do you know if we were supposed to send them in via Collegeboard? I wasn’t sure whether to send it in before or after a decision so I haven’t done anything yet. I sent in my scores when I applied last year (as a high-schooler) to the UC’s so would they still have that?

@friedchips I’m pretty sure you’ll send them in once you decide which school you SIR to.

Yeah, you don’t send until you get accepted. The CollegeBoard sends direct via your request. Deadline is around July 1.

If I passed the ap chem exam and got credit for general chemistry at my school will i need to retake it if it’s a pre req at the UC I want to go to or does this mean i dont need to take chemistry again?

@Thrower2015, please make your own thread. Don’t hijack this one.

@Thrower2015 you may have to depending on the AP rules for your major and dept at the UC. Go to the UC link on the page below, and see what the college rules are for AP. Then look at the major on assist and see if it is different. Lastly, verify with a CCC advisor.

@Thrower2015 Wondering the same thing actually.
