Hey guys. I'm taking AP English, Euro History, Econ, Stat, and Calc AB. I looked on USC's website and it seems that Euro History satisfies a GE, and Econ and AB Calc count for some credits too. What about English and Statistics? Can I get anything out of the way if I get 4/5's on those two?

There may be some department that MAY waive a statistics requirement but it is very, very likely that you will only receive elective credit for a 4/5 on either of those.

could you explain the whole elective credit thing?

A standard USC degree requires 128 units for completion. Most majors (engineering is a notable exception) + general education requirements are considerably less than that total so you have 2 options of fulfilling the remaining units. You can either take electives OR you can add another major or add a minor to reach that total. By having elective units, you receive an earlier registration time (its done by total completed units, somewhat better choice of class/discussion/lab times) in addition to being able to graduate a semester or two earlier since you may reach that total unit requirement earlier.

oh gotcha! didn’t realize a major (business for me) wouldn’t fill up 128 units. thanks!

The Marshall course plans are located here: [Sample Course Plans | Undergraduate Students](http://students.marshall.usc.edu/undergrad/advising/sample-course-plans/)

You will see that you will have free elective units available and even more open space if you receive AP credit.

AP Euro Hist satisfies GE1. Math AB and Econ waive some prerequisites for higher level classes. All others will give you 4 elective units of credit up to a maximum of 32 units (One year of college). Please note: this applies only if you score a 4 or 5 on the exams. 3 and below get you nothing.
