Is there a link where I can find out about AP credit at OSU? Does anybody know how credit for ap econ works at OSU?

OK. I found the link.

On the same note (not to steal your thread dstark), does anyone know how OSU handles the AP Literature and AP Language exams? They have the information on the website but it's a little confusing (like, my question is, do they take credit for both exams, or just one?). It wouldn't make a lot of sense to get credit for English 110 and the honors version (H110), but what do I know. Any ideas?

If you get a 4 on either exam = 110 credit
If you get a 5 on either exam = H110 credit

So, if you get a 5 for both, you get H110 credit twice? That's nice..

I think they only take one and discount the other.

On a somewhat related note, OSU is incredibly generous with AP credit. I took two AP exams my junior year and four my senior year (this was the most my school offered), and I entered OSU with 60 credit hours and sophomore standing.

I've taken 9 AP courses, so if I go to OSU I'll be doing alright. :-P

I will have 13 AP scores if I enter...this might prove interesting. Possibly I may actually be able to complete a double major here, while maintaining my position in the Honors program. (This assumes I attend.)

I'm doing a triple major, so it's definitely possible.

ambidextrous, you're kidding? From your screen name I thought you had two majors. :)

What are they and how have you found the advising?

Humanities triumvirate of English, History, Classics...

Advising is good and well-organized. I have, I think, four official advisers (Honors Humanities, and then in the individual subjects). Also, my professors are very helpful in giving advice about good classes to take in their departments, etcetera. Everyone loves to help confused freshmen schedule!

I heard, but didn't quite follow, info that if you double major you can count your major classes toward your GEC requirements. But if you have only one major, the major classes only count toward your major.

MaryTN - that's correct, you can use major courses to fulfill GEC requirements if you have more than one major. At least this is for Arts and Sciences - engineering or pre-nursing or something could be totally different.

The link listed above "http://meritawards.osu.edu/admissions/cbe_ap.asp" appears to have gone away.

Does anyone have a doc that details AP credit at OSU or can point me to a link on their web site?

A search only brings up the Math Depts credit.

I'm interested in a double-major within the School of Architecture. The SoA site is slim pickings, but does anyone know of a site for the general university that details the process? I'm curious, but it can always wait until the time I (may) enroll and make a visit to campus.

Here is the site that links to the most current details on those generous AP credits at OSU

The other link was not accurate and they took it down

Zac, my D was told that double majoring within SoA is not difficult, (such as taking architecture and planning) but trying to do so with a major/minor outside of SoA is very difficult.

Well, it's a toss up.... I'm going for architecture first and foremost. Planning or Art History would be the second degree.... surely Planning would be easier...

I'll have my mind up on OSU by this time next week, at which point I may be calling to schedule a personal tour/chat about double majoring within the SoA.

Is your D considering a double major?

My son was considering architecture - until the realities of the rigors of studio, the length of time until registry, the structure of work witin a firm and the likely salary sunk in. Now he's "exploring" and thinking of intellectual property law. That's a logical leap, isn't it? :)

At least I'm more comfortable with him "exploring" at OSU than somewhere where he's spending $40K a year.

I think the reason OSU counsels that double majors outside of Knowlton are difficult is because architecture has extreme time demands. So if you can double without leaving Knowlton it can work, but if it's outside the SoA, it will be hard to find the time away from studio to fulfill the requirements of the second major. Outside minors are probably more workable than double majors.
