Many schools cap AP credits off at 32. Does UCLA does this, too?

You mean how many units get converted? No cap as far as I know.

No, there is no cap to the amount of AP credit you can bring to UCLA.

that being said, there aren't that many ap tests you can get honest-to-god credit for, either.

the ap credits are just empty credits that can help you get a sophomore standing, right? (if you're a freshman)

And lower division elective units.

how many lower div elective units are required?

Well, you need 180 units total to graduate. 60 of them must be upper division.

I'm a little confused about the AP credit system.

I'm entering next year majoring in physiological science, but very few of my AP credits actually count toward my major. And AP credits don't satisfy GE.

For example, these are the AP credits that I'm entering UCLA with, assuming I get a 4 on all of my AP tests this year (excluding Spanish Language):

Biology (5) - LIFE SCI Unassigned (8 units)
Chemistry (4) - CHEM General (8)
Macroeconomics (4) - ECON 2 (4)
Microeconomics (4) - ECON 1 (4)
English Lang/Comp (4) - ENGCOMP 3 (8)
US Gov't (4) - POLI SCI United States (4)
US History (4) - HIST United States (8)
European History (4) - HIST European (8)
AB Subscore of Calculus BC Exam (5) /
Calculus BC (5) - MATH 31A & 31B (8)
Music Theory (4) - MUSIC Theory (4)
Physics C: Mechanics - PHYSICS General "C" (4)
Psychology (5) - PSYCH 10 (4)
Statistics (5) - STATS Unassigned (4)

And I took Calculus of Multiple Variables, which is both MATH 32A and 32B, and Intro to Logic, which is "one additional lower division philosophy course," at a community college. The transfer units were calculated with assist.org and should amount to 11 transferable units.

That amounts to 87 units.

And, if should pass the AP Spanish test at all, it's 8 units, making my total 95 units.

If I have enter with more than 90 units, am I'm supposed to have junior standing?

And... since most of these units, don't really apply to my major, do they have any effect at all?

wow swift.... you are crazy. I think my school offers like half the amount of AP classes you took... haha.

lol, bump.

so swift, are you planning to be in college like 2 years?

no, i'm not. anddd... no one's answering my question.

Do AP's that don't go toward your major or GE's really matter?

Did your Calculus of Multiple Variables include vector calculus? That's what 32B is...

Anyways. It helps you graduate earlier if you optionally use those units to fulfill electives (classes that's not required by GE, major, or pre-req, but are used to complete the necessary 180 units for graduation).

Oh! I didn't know that was what elective units meant.

What about courses that aren't from the College of Letters of Sciences, like Music Theory?

Yeah, that math course was the transferable equivalent of both 32A and 32B.

I think courses from the different colleges are fine as long as they let you enroll.

questions…
In the college of engineering, it seems that getting a 5 on the Calculus BC exam only gets you credit for 31A and NOT 31B, according to this website:

[AP Credit - School of Engineering and Applied Science - UCLA Undergraduate Admissions](AP Credits for Majors in the College | Undergraduate Admission)

Apparently it’s different for different colleges, the college of letters and science take BC (5) for both 31A and 31B. Bummers it seems…

And WHAT exactly is “General C” for Physics AP? I took both Mechanics and Ele/Mag and will get above a 3 for both, but all the physics I see on the UCLA website are courses like Physics 1A, 4AL, 1B, 4BL. So DO my credits transfer over or not? If so, just what kind of courses am I actually covering?
