So recently I have learned of a scheduling dilemma for my junior year, and I have to choose between AP Economics and AP Statistics.

I don't know what I'm going to major in when I'm in college yet. But I know it's going to be something not directly related to math or science, perhaps Economics, but I'm not entirely sure.

Which one do you think is more important and useful to take in high school, and would more likely be counted for college credit?

Thanks.

I haven’t taken either (will this coming year), but personally, I think Stats seems more useful. It can be applied to many courses in the humanities and seems really useful in analyzing data, whereas Econ is a little more narrowly focused. However, that’s just my opinion, and since Econ is a grad requirement for me, I’m taking both. If you do want to major in Econ, taking it could be better - however, some schools won’t accept credit for certain AP courses if you want to major in the subject, so check before.

At the schools I’ve looked at, Stats is usually accepted for credit, but a lot of it depends on the school. Most schools have which ones they accept and for how many credits they accept certain AP tests for on their website, so you can look at the websites for the schools you might want to apply to and check.
