AP Eng Lit - Bright or ominous future?

So I'll be taking AP Eng Lit next year. Apparently, a lot of students take Honors English 3 before taking AP English in their senior year. Well, due to lack of information, or something along the lines, I didn't this year (although I could've), but am still planning on taking AP English next year. I think I know at least one other person who is (seriously) taking AP Lit and is not currently taking Honors English.

But I don't know if I can do sufficiently, especially since I'm probably already at a disadvantage, not having enough experience in analyzing stuff like poems. For example, I'm currently stumped on Dickinson's poem #258 ("There was a certain Slant of light..."). There's also the idea that I won't have sufficient essay writing experience. My current English teacher says that I'm a good writer, but... then again, the criterion for "good" could be different in the more advanced classes. On the other hand, I've tried catching up by reading some books and plays read in the Honors English class. But then again, I've just read... Overall, I do have to use SparkNotes at times...

Originally, I believed that maybe getting a B in AP English next year is both relatively realistic and good. After all, I've heard someone saying colleges like a B in an Honors/AP course over an A in a regular version of the course (right?). But how will a B in AP English affect my chances in college admissions (including admissions into private colleges)? Am I on a right track for AP Lit? Am I being ambiguous, by any chance?

As long as you have an interest in pursuing it I don't think it should be a problem, given that you can read and write at a reasonable level. Remember, the objective of taking these classes is to better your English, not just to please colleges.

What do you mean by "Am I being ambiguous, by any chance?" ... Did you mean ambitious? Well, think about it this way: A lot of people who take Lang are able to take Lit thereafter with minimal preparation. If Lit is your goal, I don't think you have much to worry about.

unless you actually enjoy English, don't take AP English Literature. And note, AP literature will mean a lot of reading and essay writing.

I was actually referring to my post. Wondering if my questions and such and such were confusing to read, and all. :)
