AP English Language Exam Thread

xD -yawn- Well, anyway. Good luck on the exam, guys! Night all.

Are the rhetorical terms really that complicated on the exam? I only remember seeing basic ones like alliteration, hyperbole, and that sort. Plus, do we have to know the different forms of writing, for the lack of a better word, such a fable, expose, etc.

There are a few questions with exotic terms, but not many. There could be a couple on fable, anecdote, allegory, but again-not many. If you have a list of about 30 that you are very comfortable with, that should do fine.

I just finished my final practice test! I’ve begun getting a raw score above 40 pretty consistently on the Cliffs practice tests, and I’ve been getting nearly all 6’s and 7’s on the essays, so I think I’m in the clear for a 5. I pretty much just want to get it over with now lol

well, I’m hoping for a relatively easy MC and hard essays. I figure I can do any essay, no matter the difficulty, at about the same quality. MC is heaven or hell for me.

seadog i dont think u shuold expect nines on the actual test regardless of the grades ur teacher gives u…r u writing minimun 4 pages with heavy analysis?

for the multiple choice i would review literary devices, rhetorical terms.
its mostly about understanding what’s being said and being able to translate the consequent meaning behind it

-theReach-

there are actually 9 rhetorical modes: exemplification, description, narration, process analysiis, division and classification, argumentation, cause and effect, definition, compare/contrast

What’s the bare minimum for getting a 3?

6, 6, 6 and 33/55. or 5, 5, 5 and 18/55 MC
or…what? I would like to know. Thanks.

Lol I haven’t studied at all. Oh well. Last AP test of this year…YEAAAAAAAA
wait…then I have SAT II’s…
:[

there are actually 9 rhetorical modes: exemplification, description, narration, process analysiis, division and classification, argumentation, cause and effect, definition, compare/contrast

Could you define those? D:

yay! I just finished my exam today!! not as bad as i thought lol

That’s cool! Haha, everything pretty doable, like practice tests? (not asking about content, that’s illegal)

Essays were fun to write XD
MCQ was ok.

I can’t seem to be consistent I haven’t practiced that much, but on my last MC I did alright and my recent argumentative essay I did bad, but on my previous one ist was vice-versa.

Any idea if you can’t find rhetoric by the author and use diction or syntax, you shouldn’t just say the diction the author uses… anyone know a good way to refer to diction or syntax

Instead of saying “use diction”, maybe just say that the author diction conveys blablabla by blablabla LOL

Anyways, yes the MCs were pretty doable, but I had FormB for essays (is form B for international or something?), and don’t know if students in the USA will have form B… but yeah, the questions were much better than I thought or came across in practice tests. English isn’t really my thing, and even I thought it was quite okay, so you guys’ll be fine =) good luck!

ok thanks,

Good Luck Everyone taking the test.

I have to go to school now and get this over with.

Same

im off to the slaughterhouse…

Felt more like SAT than than AP English Language.

yeah MC and FRQs were pretty easy

I think I did a good job on the MC and the synthesis frq, decent on the third, and idk on the second

I don’t know how well I did on the MC. I hope that I got about 2/3 correct. I answered 53 of them and had a couple of question marks.

The essays were easy. I was able to use all the documents for the synthesis, and I wrote 3 pages for each. I write really small and compact, especially in comparison to the essays released by Collegeboard.

Hopefully, I can get a 4 on this test.
