AP English Language Exam Thread

For the 2nd one, were we supposed to use rhetorical terms (metaphor, etc.)? It was so hard to put them in.

I thought the multiple choice was really easy, easier than the SAT reading even. Wrote nine pages, finished both sections with ten minutes to spare

The MC was so easy! I think I did well on the synthesis (wrote 3 pages), and I really enjoyed the topic. I also liked the third one since I had a couple really good literary examples, but I only wrote two pages. The second one I don’t think I did as well in, but I don’t think I did bad on it. Only wrote 1.75 pages though.

I was worrying about time, but I finished both the MC and essay section 20 minutes early o_O

That second FRQ was beautiful, I was dreading the fact that it could be an excerpt from the the 18th century. Luckily, it was right up my alley.

Why does everyone worry so much about length? It’s content that gets you the score.

Stupid question. About half way through one of my essays I re-read the prompt and realized I had to add to my thesis to make it relate to the prompt. I put a little star and added on at the end of my essay. Do graders view this as lack of organization? Will it significantly alter my score?

Why does everyone worry so much about length? It’s content that gets you the score.

I just feel like if it isn’t long, I didn’t put enough content in >_<

OMG!! So I have been blown away by these AP tests…in a good way!!! haha I thought AP tests were supposed to be super hard. I took AP Am. Gov. and just took AP English Lang and I thought they were reallllly easy. I know I got a 5 on gov, but with lang I think I most likely got a 4. I was astonished at the multiple choice. My practice MC made the real thing pale in comparison. I had four questions I wasn’t sure on. Assuming I didn’t bomb my essays, I feel I have a good shot for a high score. Let’s pray my five AP tests next year are as easy as these. haha

globe trotter. you’re in trouble. they probably won’t know and will give you a 2 for a missing thesis,

well you missed the entire point Helvetica

well, if you only wrote a paragraph cld_1992, most likely you’ll get a 1 for one paragraph. sorry, but expect a 2 or lower.

You’re worrying me, seadog. My thesis wasn’t necessarily incomplete to begin with, but I just felt like I could add a little bit. My star had a little bubble saying, “see last page of essay.”

Free-response rk33? are you sure you took the right test?

MC was really easy, there were maybe 2 or so that i narrowed down to two choices and had to take a guess

synthesis essay i did really well on, the wording of the rhetorical analysis prompt was kind of weird i think i did average on that, and average for the last one

hopefully a 5…

“well, if you only wrote a paragraph cld_1992, most likely you’ll get a 1 for one paragraph. sorry, but expect a 2 or lower.”

Wait, what? My shortest essay was almost two pages <_<

What score do you think I can get if I got 50/55 on MC (no skipped), and a 7 on one essay, 3’s on the other two. Chance of a 4?

^ how do you get a 7 on one essay and 3’s on the other 2? lol, to get a 3, you need to write like…idk half a page or something

i thought the MC was easier than previous released exams

the first and third were pretty easy, while the second one was…interesting/unusual

I’m not really sure how they grade them, I just know my synthesis question turned out much better than the other two. I had more to right about and the difference in diction between that and my other essays was like day and night. My other essays were pretty bad with a lot of repetition, worse diction, and only 4 paragraphs (page and a half in length).

Does anyone know if the essays are weighted equally? Or is it like the APUSH, where the DBQ counts more?

i took a barrons practice multiple choice last night… 33 right and 22 wrong.

today, i feel like i got every single one right. I mean 55 out of 55. am i being overconfident? all the questions seemed soooooooooo easy!!!

essays… my first one was amazing… 7-8 quality… second one i got wrecked on… the structure and grammar and mechanics and such were okay, but the content was absolute GARBAGE… i am hoping for a 4+ on that one… and the last one i feel like i did well on it but i was rushed so my examples were relatively weak to what i could have used… and werent explained extremely clearly… im thinking 5-7…

5 material u guys think? or is that pushing it?

EDIT:

multiple choice… 55 questions… 45% of test

essays… synthesis, analysis, and argument… 55% of test

synthesis - 33% of essay score
analysis - 33% of essay score
argument - 33% of essay score
