Hey guys. I am scheduling for my senior year of high school and my current schedule looks like this.

Multivariable Calculus with Linear Algebra (weighted)

AP Statistics (weighted)

AP Computer Science (weighted)

Spanish 4 (weighted)

Honors Essay Writing / Survey of Western Humanities (both weighted)

AP Macroeconomics/AP Microeconomics (both weighted)

Gym (Mandatory)

Lunch

I already have 5 years of science under my belt (Honors Chemistry, Honors Molecular Biology, Honors Physics, AP Biology, and AP Chemistry), but I was wondering if I should take AP Environmental Science in place of AP Statistics for senior year. My only two options are between APES and AP Stats at this point - I will not take AP Physics B or C - so I would just like suggestions between the two. Will it be detrimental to me if I don't take a science course senior year even though I already have 5 years? I'm just asking because I'm currently signed up for AP Statistics and will have to go talk to my counselor to see if I can switch into APES. Thanks.

Honestly, both AP’s are somewhat looked down by certain people- APES as the “easiest” of AP Sciences, and Stats as the “easiest” of AP math courses. I believe that it’s sort of a draw. Most colleges, even the most elite, would not fault you for not taking a science your senior year, given how many you have taken already. Honestly, it just depends on your field of interest and where you want to demonstrate profiency and dedication. I believe that they would both be beneficial courses, though I personally found APES to be more fun, interesting, and beneficial, but your school may be different, and it’s ultimately your call.

I think you should take APES so you will have a science course.

I agree with puggly APES is a good way to fill in a science slot. Colleges find any AP preferable to a regular class (except maybe Acdec) just APES or AP stats are not as stand out. APES is also supposedly much more interesting, plus why not go for 6 years of science just for the fun of it? If you already took AP bio it’ll be a cinch. Unless you find math easier (which some people do) go for APES

I will probably go for APES as I had originally put that into my schedule but there were some conflicts with AP Macroeconomics and AP Microeconomics. Those conflicts have been resolved so I will talk with my counselor on Monday to see if there are slots still available in APES for next year. Both AP Statistics and AP Environmental Science are pretty easy in my school so neither would have been a problem in terms of difficulty. So I will see if I can switch into it then. Thanks for the advice, guys.
