I hope to get into Davis in a Ag/Env Sci Dept major. I’m taking a bunch of AP classes now and took 4 exams (incl Eng Lang and Stats) last year. If I get in, is it worth taking any more AP exams because it doesn’t look like I’d get any more credit for them as GE’s or pre-reqs? Any other reasons to take the exams?

Personally I’m happy I took them even though I only got to skip Chem 2A and 2 calculus classes (i took 10 APs). Even though Most of them don’t allow you to actually skip a beneficial class, the units that they give you get you a MUCH better pass time to sign up for classes. I’m usually 1 whole day ahead of other freshmen right now which really helps get into popular classes. And, next spring quarter I will have 90 units so I will already have upper-division standing. So I would recommend it.

ditto to above answer. Do NOT underestimate the value of getting an earlier pass time for registration. Your stress level will be much lower. I had 15 AP credits (credits, not classes) and was still pretty much LAST for pass times. Also, a big mistake I made was listening to the advisor to only take 12 units the 1st quarter - all this did was move me lower on the list!

This is a bit pre-emptive, but the AP units you pass will NOT count towards your credit limits. As the others have said it will sort of let you jump a bit ahead but will definitely push you up on the pass times list, so in other words, other than a bit of stress now there are no real reasons not to.
