So here's the deal. Next year I will be a senior so It is my last chance to finally step it up in history and the last year to take APES. My problem is I can only take one. My other classes include Statistics, Honors Physics and AP Literature & Composition; which I hear is very hard. (and some electives, study halls and a gym). I have only taken an AP course once before and that was Psychology and I did very well, but I did not take the exam. Here are my reasoning for each course. (pros/cons)

AP Gov't
I'm very good at history and was recommended every year of High School for an AP History.
I hear it is very hard and the teacher can't teach, but I get along well with the teacher.
I asked all of my past history teachers they think I can do very well.
The AP teacher said he is very willing to work with me if I struggle.
History next to English is my favorite subject.
I considered a double major with History & Psych.
My brother took the course, he received a 5.
I will also be taking a WWII & Vietnam course.
This is Political Science not history.
I don't really know anything on Politics, I'm not very into it.
There is so much summer reading. (600+ pages really)
I can't have a heavy course load. (Job & Sports)
Regular or not I am learning the same information.

APES
I am also considering a major in Marine Biology.
I could get a feel for the kind of Science I may see in college.
If I don' t like it I won't waste time on a degree I don't like.
I heard it was very fun & interesting.
I heard it is also easier & the teacher teaches well.
I hate hate hate Chemistry (B's & C's in honors) Honors Biology I received B's & C's.

Which do you believe is worth more? in my situation.

Ot depends. If you’re willing to take a B or a C you should go for ES if marine biology is what you’re currently considering as a college major. If ES isn’t to your liking, you’ll have an easier time finding your desired major. Beware though: marine biology will undoubtedly require many college biology classes and some chemistry classes. ES probably won’t have too much of either one.

AP gov, as you stated, is not a history, although people who do well in history tend to do well in gov. However if politics aren’t your thing, if you can’t imagine spending an hour watching national news or listening to npr, you may not do too well. If you don’t care about what type of issues Democrats prefer or what party Cubans tend to vote for and why bills often don’t become law, stay away from gov. But if these things do interest you, there is no reason to not take it.

If you’re genuinely interested in both classes, I say that you should drop the study hall or the WWII and Vietnam course or gym or something.

I saw both your post thank you so much for your answers. I have the room to take both and have considered it because I would love the chance to take both courses before I leave. I have said many times if this was APUSH I would have no problem taking it because Maritime history & American history are my main interests. I also would love to work with the teacher. Although its getting kind of late in our summer here so I might have to choose one. and yeah I hate Chemistry with a passion & did terrible. Biology I’m okay at. Anything history related whether I love it or not just comes naturally. (At one point I had grades way into the 100’s) and I didn’t really care for the course I just work hard and take advantage of any extra credit.
