ap history and ib history/ too much?

Hi, so I’m an upcoming junior in high school. My school only gives IB courses. So, I’m going to be an IP Diploma student. Although, there is one AP course given which is APUSH(AP history). Would it be a duplication of content if I were to take APUSH ad IB History of the Americas? Thanks for the answers!

Yes, there will be a fair amount of content that will be in both.

It will also look like you have the same course twice on your transcript - not a good use of a schedule. It sounds like you like history. Are you doing history HL?

You may be able to self study for the AP exam if that’s important to you.

At our school you take APUSH for year one and HOTA for year 2. And take both tests.

Why do you need to take AP USH? Colleges give credit for the IB score you got for IB History of the Americas if it is high enough

Depends on HL or SL. Many colleges will not give credit for SL.

At our school, kids take apush in sophomore year and could choose to take IB history (which is more world history oriented) SL/hL for the next two years. Do you have other IB social science courses (such as global politics, geo, Econ) to take in the place of HOTA?
