So i was taking some multiple choice practices for AP Language and got 2 minus-sevens (so i guess 47/54) in a row. Is this good? I wnt on AP Pass - AP English Language Calculator and it had that barely at a 5 with straight 6's on the essays.
Is the curve on that site very harsh? Or is the curve typically this harsh. I know i can probably do better than straight 6's on essays (My one practice where my teacher graded closest to the way she expects AP graders to grade i got a 7/8 and an 8, we didn't do a synthesis that time). Yet i thought you could get like 80% on the MC and straight 6's and be a 5.
Thanks, and good luck to all on Wednesday!

Yes, the English curve is not at all forgiving, and that’s accurate. That MC score though is VERY good, and somebody with that MC score will probably get at least a few 7’s. To feel more confident, look at past AP English exemplars, which show some mediocre writing get 5s and 6s.

working on improving your writing skills is basically the most worthwhile thing to do imo for this test. A point higher on an essay means you can essentially miss 2-3 more multiple choice questions if you want to think about it this way.

Yes, AP Pass is the most accurate site to show AP exam curves, they get their calculations method straight from CollegeBoard’s website. And yes, the curve for AP Lang is not very forgiving (compared to APUSH for example), so to get a 5 it is reccomended to get all 7’s on the essays and do fairly good on the MC.
