I took AP Macro this school year. It was a bit of a challenge given that I was one of only two sophomores taking the course and the material was very new to me. Although, I did end up doing good in the course overall. I’ve heard that once you take one AP Econ class it’s a lot easier to take the other. In this case the other would be AP Micro for me. I was wondering if anyone had any opinions on if it will be easy to take one after taking the other.
From personal experience, I would agree
if the AP Macro/Micro Econ classes are full-year classes, they should be quite easy, similar to AP Stats and AP Psych. In college, the 2 subjects would most likely be taught one quarter each. At a semester school like UC-Berkeley, both subjects are combined into a one semester class. This is the same pace as in many California public schools, Macro and Micro Econ is taught as a honors class, no AP option, both in one semester, in combination with AP US Government.
As is often the case, this varies by college. At mine, micro and macro were one semester each. Although at my HS, AP micro/macro each was one trimester.
@ProfessorPlum168 I know of a lot of schools near me that teach the AP Econ course combined and do Micro the first semester and Macro the second. Unfortunately, at my school we have every other day block scheduling so we do not offer that (the classes are taught separately by different teachers). At my school they are full year but we have the class every other day for an hour and a half (I’ve already taken macro).
@ProfessorPlum168 @skieurope Hi! sorry, I did not wan to start a new thread for this question- I was wondering if you have any info. My son took AP Econ his junior year and took took 2 AP test one for macro and one for micro. When he lists his AP tests, does he lists 2 AP’s one for Micro and one for Macro or just one for Economics? thanks!
@califmom23 both
@squ1rrel Thank you!
@califmom23 @squ1rrel is correct - it’s 2. But for future reference, such a question warrants a new thread. Hijacking another user’s thread is a ToS violation and is considered rude to the OP.
@skieurope Thank you for your kind answer.
