***AP Macroeconomics & AP Microeconomics Thread 2015-2016***

So for the macro frq, I messed up and got interest rates lower. But for the rest of the answers (which were based on that interest rate question), I continued with that mistaken logic. Therefore I got the complete opposite of the correct answers, but based on my wrong answer for the ir, they would be right.

I know for physics, if you continue with your mistaken logic for related questions on the FRQ, you can get some points. Does that ever happen for econ?

Everyone is discussing this question, and Yes, you get consistency points. I’m pretty sure the interest rates actually go lower.

@kevboi917 Yea my bad i meant rates go higher.

CollegeBoard scales the FRQs to make them 30 points, even though when they add up it doesn’t get to 30. I know last year the curve for a 5 was 66-90 points, but I don’t think it’ll be that generous this year. Maybe 71 or 72-90 for a 5.

Thx for the info @ConspicuousHobo , is it for Macro? What do u guys think will be the curve for Micro this year? Anyone knows the 2015 or some recent curves?

Do you know if they scale each question the same amount or different accordingly?

The curve is applied to the overall score.

Let’s say I got a calculation question wrong. Do I still get a point for explaining my calculation if it asks for you to explain it?

Also anybody count up the total points of FRQ on macro like me? It’s usually 10 5 6 points but this year is different i think. I got 24 points when I added them up together. Weird

@kevboi917 Sometimes CollegeBoard only gives 1 point for both a correct answer and an explanation, rather than 1 point for the correct answer and another point for the explanation. I went through at the Macro FRQs again, and I can see them awarding 11-12 points for the first one, 6-7 for the second one, and 5-6 for the last FRQ.

@hohahu Yeah that was for Macro last year (the MC was apparently pretty hard last year, which was why the curve was pretty generous). The Micro curve pretty recently (either last year or the year before) was 71-90 for a 5, and I can see the same for this year as well. It’ll probably be around 71-90 for 5s in both Macro and Micro this year.

Is the multiple choice this year hard comparing to others years? I have no idea

Micro FRQ is now released.

@kevboi917 Comparing to last year, the Macro received bad results with an increase in 1s, and Micro received very good results with an increase in 5s. I had the prediction that Macro would be easier than previous years, and Micro would be harder than previous years. Based on how I thought I did, I think I was correct, but that’s relative. MC for Macro was easy, but FR was iffy. MC for Micro was hard, but FR was easy.

Another two months until results :(( :(( The only reason why I would like such late scores is that if I do bad, I feel like I wouldn’t care at that point, but if I did well I would be really happy.

What does increase in 1s mean?

Also anybody know FOR SURE the answers to Macro FRQ 2 the middle question about the maximum change in time? anYbody can explain those to me?

And also anybody know the answer to Macro FRQ 1, what movement does the Short Run Philips curve make and why?

The short run Philips curve shifts left(downward) because in the long run, aggregate supply will shift right to balance out the recession and Philips curve moves in opposition to the aggregate supply.

C) I) 900$
II) 1000$

@puretruth The scoring guidelines won’t be released until after scores come out.
