AP Physics C post-exam thoughts.

I hope my instincts were wrong and the questions for the FRQ were really harder than most people thought so the curve is really good lol… but that’s probably not true

See, I didn’t think the concepts of the questions where that difficult, but some parts were. For example, one the first one, I didn’t think the first three parts were hard at all, but I honestly had no idea what they were talking about with the y and Y thing. I thought sketching graphs on these mechanics FRQs were confusing, but the actual plotting of the data and drawing the best fit was easy

I totally messed up on the 1st graph of the mech1. And the graph for mech3 was pretty bad too…

E&M…yuck.

Messed up atleast half of the last 2 questions

For prep, I did a past Mech and E&M MC, perfect scores on both
Did last year’s E&M FRQ, 32/45
So will be comparing to that…

Mechanics MC - Didn’t have time to get to last question but didn’t think there were any challenging questions, so average difficulty?
Mechanics FRQ - Didn’t think this was conceptually difficult but there was a ****load of annoying computation so I didn’t get to finish two questions. Much harder than normal
E&M MC - Couldn’t answer two questions but once again thought it was average difficulty
E&M FRQ - This was very easy; much easier than normal

Wouldn’t be surprised if Mech and E&M had the same scaled score cutoffs to get a 5 this year

i have a feeling you’d need like a 30% to get a 3 on Mech this year…

^Oh gosh, hopefully… if I even got 30%. I thought the MC was average compared to past years, though I didn’t finish them all. FRQ was ***. -____-; I BSed everything and even drew my force diagram wrong. There were an abundance of sad/crying faces and the words “cry, cry, cry” everywhere on that booklet.

Mech: Maybe a 3. Hoping
E&M: Hoping for a 2, but if I’m honest, probs a 1.

I’m going to spend the whole summer learning physics

Mechanics MC:
Moderate hard… not enough time.

Mechanics FRQ: Easier compared to previous years.

Electricity MC:
It beasted me, but I suck at it.

Electricity FRQ:
Circuit was easy, failed the rest.

on mechanics:
MC was alright. I skipped 7 and most of the other answers are right.
FRQ…the last one really destroyed me, i only get part A of the last one. Then i ran out of time. 1,2 are pretty decent in term of Easy-Medium-Hard.

I loved the free response for mechanics, since i love math :stuck_out_tongue:
I thought the mc was average

Don’t worry, I think you can still make a 5 if you miss a whole FRQ.

I actually thought that Mechanics was really easy and E&M was unusually more difficult than past exams. Mech MCs were really easy imo, and the FRQs were mostly easy. E&M MCs were easy, but the FRQs took some thinking for some reason, even though I knew I had done examples of each and every one of them before.

The whole mechanics section seemed much harder to me than previous exams. I had to omit 5 questions and there were a few I was unsure about and the FR is always shaky for me so who knows I may have done well or not. Either way I felt the test was much harder than I expected

Did anyone else think FRQ #2 on mechanics was really easy? I always thought the last part of each question was supposed to be the hardest, but I had tons of work for a-c and part d for me was like 3 lines…were we just supposed to use conservation of horizontal momentum?

Don’y worry too much, last year I thought that I bombed it, but I got 5s on both sections. I’m sure most of the people on this site will get 4s and 5s.

Mechanics wasn’t that bad… got destroyed by E&M though. I probably missed ~10 MCs.

For E&M 1, I integrated to get the electric field, and then went back to part c and antidifferentiated that for the potential. I didn’t know how else to do it.

E&M 2… let’s just say I had no idea how the current is supposed to go… I just wrote P=IV and left the last question blank.

E&M 3: I put clockwise but I’m pretty sure it’s counterclockwise. And I believe it gets dimmer. I used Ampere’s Law to get the magnetic field… and then used that to find the flux.

I thought the MC was hard and the FR was easy, but that is just me.

Still don’t think I did much better than a 3 though.

The Mech MC was pretty manageable for me. I answered every question and had actually arrived at an answer for all but two (for those two, I took a guess).

The FRQ was absolutely brutal. I literally couldn’t do any of them. I kept just writing the equations I thought I was supposed to use and spitting out random numbers with the correct units so I could do the next part and at least pick up a few points.

I wouldn’t be surprised if I got >80% on the MC with <30% on the FR.

I’m freaking out right now. I hate this feeling.

iceui2, i did what you did for E&M 3, except I got counterCW. And I used Biot-Savart for the flux and Ampere’s for the question before that.

but for E&M 1, I didn’t have to use any calculus b/c distance was the same. ?

The mechanics exam presented no foreign difficulties. My performance on the E & M portion, though, was a bit questionable at times due to relatively inconsequential preparation and personal weakness. I had merely finished the curriculum early this morning. However, by AP standards, I believe that I obtained a 5 on both.
