AP psych. independent study

hi,

i plan to do Ap psych as a independent study this year, my goal is to make a 5 on the AP exam.

what kind of textbook should i use?
i heard about the David Myers textbook is very good
and AP central also recommands his book
which edition should i buy for the study?
is there much difference on the editions?

thanks so much for helping!!!!

I've started got a similar thread and it seems that Barrons is good book.

so how about the textbook, did you choose it yet?

yes, barrons definetly..and for the textbook, i used the myers one..

how about the edition of the book?
is there too much difference?

the 2001 edition might be a little bit old

i had a pretty old edition, i do not remember..but study the barron's a LOT!! even more than the actual textbook..:)..something i wish i had done..

thanks for your advise, anamai
i definitely gonna get a Barron's

your welcome, and good luck!

I really don't think you'd even need a textbook for this course.

if your only aim is a 5 get barrons
however, if you really want to get a thorough understanding buy the myers textbook

I got a 5 using Barron's

Yup. I got a 5 using Barrons for just 2 days before the exam.

If you actually want to understand and remember all of what you learn, get Myers.

omg -.- 2 days before the exam, what does it cover anyway, god,im not gonna cram 2 days before,i probably will start early,lol.... like nov or dec...

amazing for two days to get a 5
i never can do that
i think i will spend a semester on it

The AP Psych exam is just basically a large vocab test. Memorize the words and their meanings and you'll easily get a 5.

i am planning to self study for ap Psych to and planning to get the Barrons but should i get the B or C?!

B or C? Are you sure you aren't confusing Psychology with Physics?

i'm self studying psych this year too so this thread has been really helpful :D

For the textbook, which I deem pretty necessary if you truly want to get a 5 ( studying vocab for a few days, especially when not in context of true understanding and reinforcement is a tall order), and any AP review book will do. Everyone swears by Barrons, but i used Cliffs and got a 5. I looked through Barrons and actually preferred Cliffs, but it doesn't really matter.

You really don't need a textbook unless you really want to learn Psych well. The test is so easy and has such a big curve. The curve is 103/150 for a 5.
