So, I recently got my AP score for my AP Chemistry Test. I studied so much for this test. I got 100s on all of the tests in class, and I did very well on all of the free responses on collegeboard, so I really wanted that 5. But I got a 4. The colleges I want to apply to next year usually want the 5 for credit purposes, so should I rescore? Also, will this 4 hurt my chances in going to an Ivy League?
AP scores carry little to no weight in the admissions process. If any school rejects you, it will not be as the result of a 4. Additionally, a 4 is still a very good score.
If you want to waste the money for a rescore, feel free. But I have only heard of 1 successful rescore over the years.
4’s aren’t bad…
Ok, thanks bro!
A 4 is a great score for AP Chemistry. Most people rescore for a 1 or a 2 when they are almost certain they did well (studied hard and aced class). I would highly discourage you from wasting your time/money (if it costs anything). APs aren’t used to admit students (except for schools which allow you to submit scores as part of your application like NYU (but why not submit just the SAT or ACT???))
In short, I discourage you from rescoring, for I feel in your situation it is a waste. You, however, feel free to do what you want. Also, no this score will not kill your chances at Ivies (nor will it hurt them).
Chemistry is not a subjective test like lit where one grader might feel your essay is better than another. Chances of going up are slight.
