the spread sheet refers to the grade people were in when they took their most recent AP exam. So they are in a grade higher when they get the awards, whcih means that the seniors are in college.

Yes, the awards are given out each year in the fall (based on the exams given in May of the same year). The awards are cumulative, so if you take more AP exams in the spring of your senior year that qualify you for a higher level award, you'll get that award after you've already started college.

Hey, does anyone know where I can find a breakdown of how many students from each state received which award and in what grade? I remember seeing something like that last year, but I can't seem to find it this year.

Probably somewhere on the CB website. I remember seeing something like that as well...

Sorry! I meant National Honor Roll, not National Honor Society. I meant to type the former, but I wasn't thinking and I typed the latter. National Honor Roll is a complete shma, not National Honor Society.

chemistry, u.s. history, and statistics

currently a junior and already have three 5's. If i take AP Bio, Psych, US Hist, English, and make 5's on those, i'll have seven 5's. I hear that up till now, the AP English exam consisted of two components counting only as one. Starting this year, its two components will be counted as separate exams, so I would have not 7 exams, but 8 APs total under my belt, and therefore qualify for national scholar award. Is this true? It would be really neat to be a National AP Scholar before senior year.....

OMG...are you serious that the English exam is going to be counted as two exams?!?

i think that's what i might've read......hope so :) ...check out ap central...they tell you a bare minimum

the spreadsheet for 2003 is here, http://apcentral.collegeboard.com/repository/2003scholarawards_31249.xls

i dont think you can take one english AP test and have it count as 2. maybe they meant Lit/Comp and Lang/Comp are counted as 2 different tests, being that they are 2 different tests. i dont think it makes too much sense for them to count one test as 2. if any one test were to be counted as 2 it would probably be calc bc because it has an ab subscore. but the subscore does not count as a seperate test. unfortunatly ontolome, i think youre going to have to settle for scholar with distinction, sorry.

my mistake....i think i'll be taking the english composition and english literature exams, on two separate days. i thought they were somehow one exam, but i guess not. so it will count for two anyay :)

yeah you cant get an award if you got anything below a 3. so the twos kill it.

Okay, so here's a question: at this point, am I the only person left who hasn't received their AP Scholar Award?

Dtown-I'm still waiting on mine.

Mine hasn't come yet either.

hey all, I am the 2004 missouri ap state scholar with a total of 15 ap exams taken

good job econrobot, keep up the good work

I got my AP scholar with distinction award yesterday in the mail.

Honestly, I assumed it wasn't going to come.

i received mine yesterday in the mail

i hate california! i'm going to have 16/17 tests and im not going to even come close to state scholar. And btw, you can get any scholar award with a 2, as long as you still meet the requirements.

here are my scores...

ap physics c 4/5
ap u.s. history 4
ap spanish 3

I was not too terribly happy with them...but I still got ap scholar with honor. I am taking a lot more ap courses this year. I am curious about the definition of national ap scholars:

National AP Scholar
Granted to students in the United States who receive an average grade of at least 4 on all AP Exams taken, and grades of 4 or higher on eight or more of these exams.

Does that mean that I could never get this since I got a 3 in AP spanish?
