AP Scholar with Distinction award

I checked on collegeboard.com today and found out that there's a good chance I'll be receiving it.

My question: Is it worth anything? Will colleges like the UCs pay any attention to it?

Yes. It is a pretty decent award and it shows your commitment in being involved in an advanced program.

The UCs will probably give you some award points for it on the admissions rubric but a 1st-3rd place on an olympiad is still worth more..

Ah, thanks. I thought it was just another "useless" award not even worth putting down.

I don't think this award is useless. It's real. :)

how do you attain AP Schloar with distinction award status? Does one need a certain # of 5 (or 4s) on a certain # of APs?

5 ap exams..
3+ on aLL 5
3.5 average

Im so mad about that... After this year, I'll be soo close to National AP Scholar but I'll be like one test off (I'm assuming that i get 4+ on the tests I'm taking this year); I'll get it for sure my senior year, but i wont be able to put it on a college app...

:)

I'm in almost the same position as you, HiWei. It would be possible for me to get the National AP Scholar award, but only after senior year. Too bad it doesn't really matter then.
