I will be a junior this year and have previously taken 3 AP classes receiving B's throughout the years in those classes. Other than AP classes I've taken honors classes and electives and received A's in those classes. I currently have a 4.1 GPA, but I am concerned with my AP test scores. I've received 2's on all of my AP tests. I was wondering how bad this will effect me if I am wanting to go to colleges such as UF, UCF, FGCU, FSU, and USF.

You got Bs in what are college level classes while in HS. How is that a bad thing? You’ll be fine. Google the Common Data Set for each school and look at section C to see what each uses for admission and what the stats were for enrolled students.

If you’re OOS, it’s MUCH more competitive (and it’s very competitive in state as well) for UF and FSU. You’ve got to pass AP tests and take dual-enrollment with A’s in as many of those as possible to have a prayer for UF, not to mention an SAT of 1900+. Not to be negative, but I think UF is out for you…

You may have reason to worry about getting 2 scores on the AP tests after getting B grades in the courses, since that indicates deficiencies in your high school’s instruction of the AP course material. Such deficiencies may extend beyond the AP courses you took, leaving you poorly prepared for college work.

I don’t think any of those colleges require that you send your AP scores do they?

If you mean are they required for Admissions, that would be a No - they are however required if you want to receive college credit. It’s to your benefit to note or send scores of 3 and higher, so by not including them, it’s assumed you didn’t officially qualify as being proficient with college-level material. They’re not clueless in admissions, they know the deal…

AP exams are but tests that test your capability in a subject all in one day. A friend of mine went to Harvard and didn’t take any AP exams, for the simple fact that it just isn’t necessary(at least in his case). Furthermore, AP classes are to only help you, whether that be you scoring high on the exams, or having good grades in a class. So will you get in to those colleges? That question depends on your overall application. Does the AP examination scores help you? No, it does not. Scoring #2 means that you “possibly qualify.” It’d be best if you just don’t send the scores.
