My current sophomore brother wants to have taken 5 ap's by the end of junior year. Next year he will be taking the bio, calc ab, microecon, and macroecon tests, but his schedule for next year will probably not all any outside time to self study any ap's, besides my environmental... he wants to know whether he should self study ap psych this year. there is about 3 months left to do it, and he's a hardworker. Yes or no?

I’d say yes. I was in a similar situation in my junior year and I took Calc BC, Psych, MIC, Chem and Physics B. Got all 5s after 3 months or so of relentless studying which was about 6 hours / day including weekends (although im not sure whether my definition of “hard worker” agrees with yours).

The AP Psychology exam is one of the easiest AP exams, making it easy to self-study. I’ve read in other posts about people who self-studied a week before the exam and got 5s. Practically a joke.Your brother is a hard worker, and all it takes to score well on the exam is to know the vocab, so it’ll be a breeze for him.

Since he’s self-studying, I reccommend him to get Barrons AP Psychology. Just about anyone in this site whos taken the exam will tell you the same thing. Barrons is the bible of AP Psychology. I’m a senior self-studying AP psych myself, and I’m using Barrons. Its pretty good.
