I heard a lot of Stat people complaining about that. Time to fire the proctor and hire a younger, competent one.
Small world, huh?

I took the test with 4 others. We donāt have an AP class at my school, and two of the guys were in Spanish IV and three (including myself) were in Spanish III, both honors classes. And the main gripe was the audio source for presentational speaking. I was the only one there to do any sort of prep. I found the first passage very difficult (this is OK to say right?). Other than that it was pretty easy.

1-IPW
2-PW
3-IS
4-LWOQ
5-RC
6-LWQ
7-PS

I did not think 5 and 6 were that difficult, everything else was just so much easier!

Also, I almost fell out of my desk laughing when my friend (his ego is GINORMOUS) asked when the fill in the blank questions were. He bought an older copy of baronās ap and only looked at it today!

Are you speaking about fuente uno for the presentational speaking portion?

Iāve calculated almost every possible thing that could happen and it seems like getting a four might be likely. I need to get over this one and focus on my other exams
And I didnāt really think it was hard to hear. I went over-time on that one and couldnāt do a closingā¦ That was the best I have ever done on that section this whole year. My interpersonal was so horrible I donāt even want to talk about it. I am anticipating a 1 on that section.

I feel annoying for asking again but what type of grades are ustedes anticipating? And why. I just need a nerve soother :)

Sorry ksarmand, I was talking about the reading section.

Oh, and no more spanish on this thread right? Uh weāerr new-sew-tras need to make fun de el espanola (valley guy voice) jah?

Reading isnāt exactly my strong point, though my writing is far worse. However, there was only one reading passage I found difficult that was quite unlike the other types provided (hopefully this gives you a clue as to which one it was); unfortunately, I cannot discuss it with you in detail here.

Pero puedo hablar con un acento nativo si trato. :)

I have heard the Valley Accent, though. Makes my ears bleed.

Youāre not annoying. The purpose of this thread is to discuss the AP Spanish Language exam, after all. Iām anticipating a strong 3 or possibly a 4.

NONE of the AP Spanish Language teachers at my school started preparing us for the multiple choice reading and analysis section until like two days before the exam. Iām surprised to hear that many people are more confident on that. On the other hand, we were tirelessly prepped on the speaking and writing, and most people at my school agree that that was the best part of the exam.

In our school, we actually had the proctor play, pause, and stop the Spanish tapes for us. We werenāt in front of a computer and didnāt even have to click āStart Recordingā buttons or anything like that. I was pleasantly surprised because there were so many errors when we practiced. The proctor did everything for us and it was surprisingly efficient.

I would say that the Presentational Writing was definitely the strong point of mine, and maybe even the Simulated Conversation for Speaking. I just felt like I had more to say and didnāt feel uncomfortable. The Interpersonal Writing, I sort of ran out of time, but I thought my writing was pretty good. The multiple choice was a disaster though, from start to finish. Iām pretty sure I skipped an upwards of 12 questionsā¦

Are you by any chance referring to the Presentational Writing section?

Well, thatās always a great sign. Hopefully, you did extremely well on the Simulated Conversation portion! :)

Oops, sorry, I meant Presentational. Thanks! Iām in no way saying that I passed the exam, just that my concerns with the exam seem to be the opposite of everyone elseās! Haha

Good luck to everyone, though.

Dude. I skipped 13
but of the ones eligidos, Iām fairly certain that they are all right.
But in my calculations, I imagined that I missed 6 questions giving me a score of 70/90 on the MC. I think that it could be possible to make up 40 more on Free Response for a 4ā¦
yns.

^Iām quite surprised so many people skipped that many questions. In general, is there any reason you elected to omit such a large number of responses?

for 4 of them i was 50% sure that i would get the answer wrong. No point in loosing points. ha.

for 9 of them, i just wasnt able to get around to them. They were all in the last reading section y se acabo el tiempo. so shrugs

Hmā¦it sounds like most people were not prepared for this exam or didnāt do too hot. :(

I didnāt skip any questionsā¦kind of thinking thatās a bad idea now lol. But I generally had the answers limited down to 2 choices and I felt very compelled to guess haha.

This is what I think:

I think I will be right on the edge between a 4 and a 5ā¦Iām thinking my listening totally killed me :/

Not going to lieā¦ the 1st listening mc and the 4th listening mc were uber confusing. The indigenous language oneā¦ what the hell?

And the botero one was ambiguous. So was the mexico / quince one.

I agree except for with what people were saying about Listening w/o Questions. I didnāt think it was easy, but I practiced that more than anything else because it was the funnest MC section. I skipped four in there b/c the answer flew by my head or something haha.

āon the edge between a 4 and 5ā
wowwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwww.
are you native? i think (hope) I am on the edge or make a solid 4.

does anyone have ANY idea how this thing is graded. I made up my own system and got a 4 lmao :]

^ Noooo, Iām not a native, but I really think I will get 5, 5, 4, 5 on the IW, PW, IS, PS, respectively. That should balance out my mediocre listening and reading score.

I found this in some other threadā¦donāt know how applicable it isā¦

Spanish Lang: 2007 - 112/150 (5), 92 (4), 77(3), 60 (2) | 5 = 74.66% (The scoring here is very complicated and also different now since they removed the fill-ins section)
(OLDā¦ Test format recently was changed) Specific Scoring for Spanish Language 2007 here:
MC Questions:
34 listening [correct-(1/3)incorrect] x 0.8823
41 reading [correct-(1/3)incorrect] x 1.0975

FRQ Scoring:
Interpersonal Writing:
x/5 x 3
Presentational Writing:
x/5 x 6
Interpersonal Speaking:
x/5 x 3
Presentational Speaking:
x/5 x 3

Though I found my Spanish teacherās techniques to be atrocious, I must say that I was relatively prepared for many of the topics of the AP Spanish exam. Many of the topics in the two most popular AP review books that I had used were on the exam; two, to be specific, were nearly identical to ones I had gone over two months prior. I suppose thatās what made my understanding of the listening a lot more easier.

Yeah, as much as I disliked my AP Spanish class, we literally spent the entire semester (block scheduling) just doing review for this exam. We had 3 or 4 different review books, and I canāt even imagine how many full practice tests we did. The teacher and class format really have a lot to do with how confident you are on this test.

pokm12, Iād say Iām anticipating a 4 or (dare I say it?) maybe a 5ā¦I was really confident about pretty much everything, aside from half of that presentational speaking.

ksarmand, good luck with calc! Iām headed for bio on Mondayā¦should be a catastrophe.
