AP Spanish vs. AP Stats- I need to choose by tomorrow night!

So tomorrow night is the deadline for the 2015-2016 course selection at my school. My schedule is pretty set but I cannot choose between AP Spanish and AP Stats. I am taking four other APs including Lit, Euro, Calc BC, and Physics 1. I’m also taking Anatomy and Female Authors, bother half year courses. Now, I know I should go by whatever is more appealing to me and follows what I want to do in college/in the future. However, I plan on doing majoring in English and taking pre-med courses. Neither are that related to my intended plans, but I need to have a total of 6 academic units (without either, I have 5.75, isn’t that lovely?) My thinking is that Spanish is more useful, but my Spanish skills are not that impressive. I can pull off an A and fake a Spanish accent, but other than that, I think I’m screwed. However, the AP Spanish teacher is amazing and even sets up AP bootcamps over the summer and on the weekend to get you prepared for the exam. I think she has managed to prepare all 30+ of her students for them to get a 4/5 on their exams in the past two years. On the other hand, I think my math skills are much stronger, but the Stats teacher at my school seems to go on maternity leave or have a major surgery done every single year. When she’s in school she doesn’t teach her students much, either.
I would really appreciate it if someone gave me some feedback. I should be making my decision and doing homework right now, but instead I just spent 40 minutes making a CC account and babbling off about my dilemma. Thanks for any input!

AP Spanish! You will get a ton more credit (when you do well on the AP Spanish test) than AP Stats, plus you already have a challenging math course in AP Calc BC.

AP Spanish

I would go with AP Spanish since you’re taking AP Calc. What do you want to major in? I think AP Spanish is good based on what you said about the teachers because that’s a big part in taking the class obviously. If you don’t have a good teacher then you’re probably not going to do well. How many years of Spanish have you taken?

I’m planning on majoring in English and doing pre-med. I’ve also taken Spanish since sixth grade. All of the middle school curriculum equates to 1 year of Spanish and I am currently in Spanish IV.

If AP Spanish has the stronger teacher, it’s probably a safer bet. A 4 or 5 on the AP exam can also help you get out of college foreign language requirements, especially if you also take a Spanish SATII test (as the class would help you prepare for that).

@anitomy definitely go with AP Spanish then.

The problem is that while the AP teacher is great, my teacher in Spanish II and IV is…a little…crazy. I mean she is a sweet lady but I feel like any learning I have done in II and IV was just self teaching. So that is what worries me, the fact that despite learning Spanish since sixth grade, those two years have taken a toll on my Spanish skills.

I would choose Spanish if you are already taking a mathematics class. It shows that you are more well-rounded.

Wow, thanks everybody! You all definitely made my decision a little easier.

AP SpANISh ole!! Although I think you already decided haha
