Next year, I am deciding between these two classes. APUSH is significantly harder at my school and I already have a history credit through WHAP. Also, I want to major in business, but have a variety of classes so I can get exposed to other areas. Which one would be the most rigorous? Which one looks better to colleges? Finally, as a junior, I decided to take AP Lang. AP BC, AP Comp Sci, Spanish 4 Honors, Band, and AP Stat/APUSH (depending on what yall recommend). Does this look very rigorous to colleges? I decided to take AP Comp Sci instead of AP Physics and take AP Physics senior year, even though it’s generally a junior class. Is this a good decision? HELP A CONFUSED SOUL OUT!!! Please answer in parts if you have to.
“Rigor” is, in part, dependent upon the teacher/school, although most people would say APUSH is more rigorous.
As I said on your other thread, you should not worry about what a college will “like.” A college will look at your transcript in the aggregate, but assuming that your GC checks off your schedule as “most rigorous,” it is highly doubtful that an AO, in the 10-12 minutes they will devote to your application, will microanalyze your individual course selection.
It’s not a make or break, but personally, I would suggest getting core courses out of the way before enrolling in electives. So I would suggest taking physics next year.
And colleges want you to challenge yourself. You have to take a USH class anyway, so I’d take APUSH over AP Sats, and take AP Stats as a senior if you can squeeze it in.
You ask great questions so I’ll try to weigh in on each of them.
Which is more rigorous? APUSH
Which looks better to colleges? APUSH
Does that our schedule look very rigorous? Rigorous but not “very” rigorous.
AP Comp Sci vs. AP Physics? Physics, in my opinion, for a multitude of reasons.
If you were my kid, I’d advise you to take APUSH and AP Physics next year. Good luck!
Take APUSH this year; take physics honors or AP physics1 the his year or next, definitely keep stats and CS as a senior option.
APUSH, AP Lang, AP calc, Spanish honors and physics would be considered most rigorous by most colleges.
Thank you so much, guys! Unfortunately, after posting this and not getting responses for a couple of hours I decided to push through on my decision and turned in my course verification for next year.
I really hope I did not make a bad decision. I really wanted this schedule because I wanted to show my passion in business, finance, tech, and econ. I am really not a science guy and the only reason why I am taking AP Physics senior year is that I need an AP Science. But next year I should be taking College Calc, College English, Band, AP Spanish, AP Micro econ, AP Macro econ, AP Physics
@MYOS1634 @skieurope @sherpa . With those reasons, do you still think its ok that I take these classes? I still have the option to change but it a headache. on one side people are saying for me to take the hardest classes I can manage while others are saying do the classes you love and show your interest in business. IDK WHAT TO DOOOOOOOO. lol
I lost interest in assisting after:
You got a response in 15 minutes, not a couple of hours, and 2 other very knowledgeable posters answered an hour after that. You only asked yesterday, which was a Saturday, so I’m not sure to whom you turned in your course selection paperwork.
Is your proposed schedule “bad?” No. Is it optimal? Also no.
I was already late by 3 days
thx anyways @skieurope
Does anyone else have any suggestions?
If you still have the chance, I’d advise you to take APUSH and AP Physics next year.
Can you list what you’ve taken so far, subject by subject - specify if honors, accelerated, AP, HL, SUPA, PSEO, DE…

What’s your unweighted GPA?
give me a couple of mins
Ok, you’re doing well for course rigor.
Now, for junior year year, ideally, you’d have
English = AP English Language
Math = AP Calc AB or Calculus Honors
Foreign Language = Spanish 4 on level or Honors
Social Science/History = APUSH
Science = Physics On-Level
Graduation Reqs = Band
- Anything else you feel like taking
For Senior year
English = Honors or AP or dual Enrollment English
Math = AP Calc BC or AP Stats
Foreign language = AP Spanish or nothing (take an extra “personal pick”)
Social Science/History = AP Economics or Honors economics or AP Euro or dual enrollement social science
Science = APES if you’re aiming for Humanities/Social Science in college
- Band + personal picks
That would guarantee the best possible rigor for all colleges
Your GPA is excellent.
@MYOS1634 wait how were you able to see what i posted
ok
