Ap Stats Is So Boring!

So I'm taking AP stats this year because the only other math class I could have taken would be Multivariable Calc/Discrete Mathematics, which didn't sound too fun. A lot of the smartest kids in my school are in my stats class, yet we move so slowly. We spent a whole day talking about bar charts and dot plots, had two problems about them for homework and then talked about them for the whole next day. Is my teacher incompetent or is it really just that easy/boring? Also, does it pick up at all?

thats the way my class is too. Stats is just more of applied math than calculus, so its not as complex and is easier to understand.

My stat class is sooooooo boring too, but it's hard!!! She wants so much detail and understand things she never taught us, and she's a horrible teacher!!! It seems like she doesn't know what she's talking about. It's horrible.

My stats is class is sort of boring, somewhat difficult, but basically a good class.

My class only has like 11 people so we're all good friends and can talk about the problems w/o any problems. My teacher is pretty good but unfortunately she will be gone all of the 2nd quarter because she's having a baby. On the upside, the AP Calc teacher will be filling in for her all 2nd quarter.

And lol @ 2 full days on dotplots and barcharts

We had all that kind of easy stuff due for summer homework. Right now we're working on Correlation/Least-Squares Regression Lines/Scatterplots.

I was having a hard time for a little bit because I didn't know how to use my TI-89 and I was the only one in the class with an 89 but I finally figured it out so now the class is pretty easy. I'm one of only 2 kids with an A so far lol =/

Eh, I did AP Stats last year. It's not that hard. My teacher was even worse, we spent a week discussing various types of charts for more that a week!

After the simple stuff, it gets interesting. Stats isn't about memorizing formulas or doing advanced caculation. It is about understanding the concepts and how it applies in the real world.

I don't think it's that bad; however, my teacher is terrible.

We spent an entire class period learning how to use a calculator ("So can everybody find the STAT button? It's, er, wait...let me find it..."). Then she gave us an hour and a half to do a worksheet that took the class ten minutes. ("Umm...do you have anything else planned for class?" "Wow, you guys are done with the worksheet already? No, you can start Chapter 4 if you want though.") Today we took a 40 minute quiz that everybody handed in within ten minutes.

Terrible. I hope the class shapes up as the year goes on.

My AP Physics teacher is the only "terrible" AP teacher I have this year.

He doesn't really know Physics at all (he was a Chem major) so he's just learning it as we go along rofl...

Today he spent like 30 minutes trying to figure out the answer to some problem I did in 5 minutes at my desk...and he got it wrong...I had to explain how to do it for him ROFL.

Stats is generally a boring class period. If you're moderately inclined to math, the class should be a breeze, and free college credit.

My class was fun, not because of the material, but it was an all Senior class. It was easy though, and considering my troubles with math, thats saying a lot.

its not too bad for me
but my AP Physics teacher is horrible
first of all, he talks in a monotonous drone
and he cannot teach for his life
needless to say I probably won't be taking the AP.

which do you think would be better:
1) Switch into Regular
or
2) Stay in AP and take the test and probably get a poor grade
or
3) Stay in AP and don't take the test
???

Be careful about Stats! Lots of kids complain and whine about how boring and easy it is in the beginning but then get 2s and 3s on it come AP time. It is still an AP, so treat it like one.

My AP Stat class is boring more because of the teacher and the people in it than because of the curriculum.

I don't have stats. LOLZ!!!!

(not really laughing)
