Every class the teacher just writes notes on the board, for us to copy, which i don't take, then assigns homework, which I don't do (haven't done one problem out of the book all year - no joke).

Seriously zero teaching. it's pretty much an hour and 20 minute study hall. I can go to the library for the whole class and the teacher would have no idea.

today we had a chapter test, that I hadn't done any of the hw for, taken any notes for at all, and I feel like a aced it. i learned the three formulas and what they were for in 5 minutes before class.

Just depends on the teacher though, right? I mean, I'm in ap stats, and I love the class, but it really is a TON of work and a lot of studying is required. The teacher is great, she really makes us work, and you definitely couldn't pass her tests that way (well, maybe you could, but I would be wicked impressed). On the other hand, I am also in ap calc, and I could pretty much do what you've said for that class, at least study wise (plus maybe a little more paying attention-that class has a lot to learn).

Dude....that's so right. i'm in the same boat as you and i ace the **** out of every taste. Stats = Calculator. Basically if you know how to use a calculatpr you should get an A in the class.

i do the same thing, but i DON'T think in math terms-- i'm the only person in the class who's not taking it in addition to precalc or calc...it's just my math class. so after a week of that i frantically scramble to teach myself out of the book the night before the test...

Does it "look bad" to take AP Stat instead of Calc? Do people get credit for Stat, or do they still have to take Calc in college? I really don't feel like struggling in math next year, and I'm forced to take one or the other.

everyone in my school does nothing for the class and still get 4s and 5s on AP test and As in the class. and yes princessbell it does, because AP stats isnt math its just memorizing random formulas and permutations. stats as a major does have math, but AP Stats is an AP light class

my class stinks.
Too much homework and stuff (im on block schedule so im done with AP stats in january)

He's a hard grader and not a very good teacher at all.
Nonetheless, we just took our final for the class (even though our semester ends on the 14th) and I got a 78, which is 100% for my final grade cause a 68=5, and if you get a 70+ ap score, then he gives automatic 100%. Our final was an actual, older AP test from a couple years ago and I destroyed it which was good.
And we actually havent reviewed 2 chapters in our book yet either. We havent learned hypothesis testing based off of regression lines and somethin else

Statistics is awesome. I'm dreading AP Calc next year, even though the Calc classes have higher grades than our class.

Oh, and by the way, AP Stats is more of "true" math than Calc is. Calc is essentially writing with letters (in English and Greek) with a coefficient thrown in once in a while.
