AP STATS: which calculator apps are necessary/most helpful?

Im kind of clueless when it comes to the realm of calculator apps and what not
what are some good apps to have?

Is it NECESSARY to have a graphing calc for stats? Or a normal scientific calc can work too?

…
im pretty sure youre going to want a graphing calculator

i dont think they care if you have a calculator at all but its kind of a big help

You NEED a graphing calculator for the test the apps on the TI 83/84 etc… normalcdf, LinregTTest, tcdf, etc. You’re screwed if you use anything other than a graphing calculator. ;D

You definately want a graphin calc unless you want to use the 4 page equation packet they give you to do Normal, Binomial, dist. with or Statistical inference. If you don’t have a graphin calc that does distributions and tests (t,z,chi) then I would find it really hard to finish. Like ^^said TI 83 or 84 are great

I have a TI-89 Titanium and I find it very useful (perhaps even more so than the 83/84). When I see others in my class use the 83/84 with binom pdf/cdf that are like 4-6 (as opposed to 0-3) they often get the question wrong because the calculator goes the wrong way. The TI-89 I think knows more about what you are doing. If you can remember that stuff though, it should be fine. Also, I heard the 83/84 doesn’t have one of the Chi-Square tests needed and you need to download/write your own program for it. The 89 has it. and the 89 prompts you with what you need to fill in (mean, st deviation, df, etc) that the others don’t have. That has saved me alot of troubles.

the TI-83 does not have chi-square goodness of fit.

the main thing you will probably want if you have an 83 or an 84-regular
is a program that gives you a t* critical value.

I’m using the ti-89 Titanium which I think is just as good as a ti-84, perhaps even better.
I personally prefer the ti-89 because I don’t like switching calculators for Calculus/Stats.

maybe i shoul have been more clear
i mean to say which additional apps should i download besides whats given on the calculator

You don’t really need additional apps. There ARE certain apps which are “rumored” to be helpful such as simulation projectors and such…but you can do fine without them. There’s also a chi-squared-GoF app for the TI-83, because it doesn’t have it pre-built in.

well i know you can do fine without them
but im dumb and i didnt really pay attention all year so any additional help would be… well helpful
im just aiming for a 3
