AP Test Scores

Do colleges see them even if you don't formally submit them? And if so, do these play a large role in the admission process?
For instance, I'm taking AP Chem, and have barely scraped by this year with a B+ average, but I feel that I'll be extremely lucky to even receive a 3 on this exam, most likely a 2. Is this going to kill my chances at competitive schools, even if my GPA and test scores and ECs are all compatible?

My school showed all our exams on the transcripts they sent out. That being said, I did get into UVA and William and Mary with a 2 on AP US haha. I don’t know if you consider those colleges competitive. For the Ivy Leagues and colleges similar to them, I would think it would matter though.

are you in-state for virginia? UVA is one of my top choices so far, I am absolutely in love with it, however I am out of state. If you’re out of state, would you mind telling me your stats? (Sorry…I’m just having a hard time gauging what my chances are…you don’t have to by any means!)

I’m sorry, I’m instate. I do remember that a lot of people on the UVA board said that UVA doesn’t look into AP scores much because they understand that sometimes a teacher is very bad or there are other problems like snow days getting in the way of school days. UVA OOS admissions is pretty hard… but nowhere near the level of UCB or UNC. If you’re 2150/32 with a decent GPA and good extracurriculars, you should be fine. 26% OOS chance, which isn’t too bad.

I would visit the individual schools and ask or search up old threads asking about AP scores.

thank you so much! goodluck at UVA :)
