Yesterday, I sent my ED application to NYU. After checking over my Common App before sending, I thought I saw that everything was perfectly filled out. Today I was just informed by a friend (who is currently filling out his common app) that there was a section to record your AP Tests. I had no idea there was an option for this. I had only recorded my ACT scores on the Testing section of the application. My AP scores that I took my junior year weren't that great. (3 on US History, 3 on Physics B, and 4 on English Language and Composition). Is it bad that I had not sent in these scores? Is there any way to let the school know that I had taken/plan to take AP tests after I have sent in my application?

For most application oversights, I tend to think there is no need for concern, but I do think it’s worth following up on this one. There might still be time to send the official AP score reports to NYU, if you rush them. If you do that, there is no need to communicate directly with admissions about it. Alternatively you could email the admissions office with this information.

AP test scores have little weight in admission. Many students would not even report a score of 3 or below particularly if they have a good grade at school as that may indicate a grade inflation. It is up to you if you want to self report your AP scores. To me, it will have neutral effect one way or the other. I would not suggest to pay for official score report for this case at all.
