If in my application I stated I would be taking the AP Bio exam later in may, but I choose not to anymore, I should notify Berkeley yes? I know for LA they did not need me to report that I wouldnt be taking the test even though I had stated in my app that I would be. Does anyone know the Berkeley policy for this? And does anyone have their email? Thanks.

yes email/call them through myberkeleyapp

Taking the test is irrelevant to the school. Not taking the AP class itself is a big deal. Just be sure that your class does not require you to take the test in order to pass the class (a few do).

I'm pretty sure it does not affect my class status/grade, just that I'd rather not overload myself with 5 AP tests.

Just go take the exam: Show up at the testing site. Put your name on the scantron. Then turn it blank and go home. All that will count as having taken the AP exam (although you will get a 1 on it). You conditional admission contract (all admissions are conditional) doesn't state you need a certain score.

I'm sure that you will be fine not taking the test, but just to be sure--call Berkeley and let them know. [:

hey TC, how are you certain about the LA policy? Did you call in and ask? I'm not taking one of my physics APs because it would have been self studied and ive been pretty loaded with work haha

do you really?

i think i put ap physics and ap comp. politics down, but i'm not taking either of them. senioritis. do you really think i need to report it?

I'd recommend to just take the test. Don't study for it, as you probably want to study for the other 4, but just show up and take it.

Do you know:
-The path from DNA --> proteins?
-The difference between prokaryotes and eukaryotes?
-The purpose of large surface areas in everything?
-What a pancreas does?
Get a very basic understanding (if you don't already have one) of those 4 questions, and you will probably be well on your way to a 2 or 3.

I know someone who's not a good test taker, who had very limited biology experience (never took AP Bio and never paid attention in a very low bio class) and got a 3 on a practice AP Bio test.

Here's a sample question from a prior test:
8) A feature of amino acids not found in carbohydrates is the presence of
phosphorous
nitrogen (right answer)
hydrogen
oxygen
carbon

That's a bit easier than average, but that is basically the type of questions (and I think you only need to answer 40% right to get a 3). Ask your teacher if for the last week your class can do review. Then just take the test. Especially if you already paid for it, it makes absolutely no sense not to take it.
