This is nonsense. Collegeboard grades accurately. You don’t see them grading more harshly on Chinese even though it has an absolutely ridiculous passing rate. If you know the material, you’ll get a good score. That’s how it works. If everyone knows the material, everyone gets a good score. Again, look at the exams with really ridiculous score distributions for proof. They don’t artificially change scores to make some magical distribution; an easy FRQ will make it EASIER to get a 5, not make it harder. It doesn’t matter if everyone did really well or everyone did horribly, they will grade everything by the same standard.

Maybe the Chief Reader and team decided to grade all FRQ’s on a higher standard (or maybe just the FRQ’s from Part C) and lower the cutoffs for a 5, a 4, a 3, and a 2. We don’t have enough information to really know if OP is mistaken or not. What OP has said seems plausible, though.

SCORE DISTRIBUTION
AP US History scores
11% = 5
20.8% = 4
21% = 3
26.7% = 2
20.5% = 1
(These may shift slightly as late exams arrive.)

Hey ivybound1, where did you hear this from?

^The head of AP, Trevor Packer, has a Twitter account: Twitter

Ooh, I didn’t know that.
Thanks =D

9% get a 5 and 14% get a 4 in World? Ah ■■■ :(

Man, If I don’t get a 5, I’m suing Collegeboard then after I lose the lawsuit I’m gonna have as much sex as possible then kill myself.

Ah, Practical, your post made me LOL! You sound even more desperate for a 5 than I am, and that is saying a lot!

Man if I don’t get a five…I won’t be suprised at all.

lol, it was meant to make you lol.

I am serious, if i don’t get a 4 or 5 due to that stupid essay, i will be mad and depressed. My teacher has so much faith in me that i will get a 5 (or 4) that if i fail him, I will disappoint myself, my family, and him…

LMAo…it’s a Ap history test…stop being so dramatic ffs

Jordan134, I’m totally with you there. If I don’t get a 5 for both AP Euro and AP US, I am utterly screwed… Shouldn’t have scored so darn high and consistently gotten top scores on every one of the class exams… Haha. I’m sure we’ll do fine though. There is a reason that your teacher had faith in you, Jordan. :)

Yeah, I want a 5 soo bad.

Am i the only one who absolutely bombed FRQ # 5? (2-4)

I still got a 4 though.
