AP US History Prior Knowledge Needed

Hello everyone. I have a question regarding whether any prior knowledge is needed to take AP US History as it is a course I will need to take. I come from Europe, and to be honest, I know little to nothing about US History. Would it be difficult to take an AP class on it without any prior knowledge? Thanks.

You may need to do more studying than the average American taking the class, but in my experience, they taught you everything you were expected to know. Read the book thoroughly – it’s your new best friend.

You’ll be just fine! I barely knew anything about US History when I took APUSH as a sophomore and I still did well in the class and on the exam. @bodangles‌ is right; the book does teach you everything you need to know for the test.
And I recommend this review book. It really helped me when I was studying for the exam: http://www.amscopub.com/viewProduct.php?productID=1287101

Good luck.

Lots of Americans take AP European History with no background and do just fine. So will you.

I appreciate all of the responces very much, and I will definitely sign up so that I take it next year! It’s about time that I get up to date on us history
