how do they compare to each other in difficulty? also, i currently have a AP prep book for USH, but should i buy one specifically for the SAT II?</p>

<p>NO difference. honestly, some questions repeated (i won't say which) between May SAT II and AP...
however, I do suggest having 2 books-that way you can get little picture and big picture-very few books cover both well (like AMSCO)</p>
<p>May SAT II, was way easier than the AP Exam, solely on the fact that the AP exam asked way too many specifics for authors and books. Whereas, the SAT II had easier question about authors, like the books that everyone knows about and writings.</p>
<p>SATII was way harder in my opinion....i thought the AP exam questions were really pretty obvious and easy.
The SATII had lots of questions where two answers were really similar and hard to distinguish between.
Thats just my opinion though</p>

<p>sat was a little easier than the ap and the ap had like 5 really obscure questions that ive never heard of before. Roughly the same though (sat being slightly easier imo)</p>

<p>I guess that the AP is more for people who know the trends and ideas better. It looks like some of those people tend to struggle more on the SAT 2 because the SAT 2 asks more specific questions.</p>
<p>AMSCO is pretty much the magic solution to both tests, though. If you go through that book thoroughly, prepare to dominate any test geared toward U.S. History.</p>
<p>Only if I would have known prior to my testing....after tomorrow I will be a veteran US history test taker. It will more or less be my third final i have taken in that stupid class this semester</p>
<p>I love USH... hate me idc haha.. anyways SAT II was slghtly harder for me due to the reasons stated by others that it was more specific in some instances; however, they are relatively the same just know authors + books more so for the SATII</p>

<p>I personally found the SAT II easier. But, I dislike the essays. Otherwise, I'd say they're about equal. </p>
<p>But, for the majority of people, I'd say APUS is harder if you're a bit fuzzy on history. The SAT II can be killer if your memory isn't your friend...</p>
<p>If you're prepping for both, get an APUS book. Those tend to more specific than those geared towards the SAT II.</p>

<p>Flash-cards can be your friend for the SAT 2. Not so much for the AP, but the SAT 2 emphasizes those specific facts. The Barron's AP U.S. History Flash-Cards are a great way to get those facts down.</p>
<p>SAT II was much easier than the AP. The time limit was MUCH more lenient than the AP. Also, the AP was much more specific and there were things that my class hadn't gone over. The SAT II also was good because it didn't have the essays looming over your head.</p>
<p>But I agree that some questions were very similar between the two tests. I think the AP just had extra stress behind it which threw me off.</p>

<p>I just took the APUSH exam a few weeks ago, as well as the SAT II. I got a 780 on the SAT II, and in my opinion the APUSH exam is harder, but the grading's a lot more lenient so it's easier to do well. </p>
<p>I've heard people say that the AP test is more concept based, but I didn't really notice that much of a difference in that area.</p>
<p>I got an 800 on the SAT II in May, but I thought it was harder than the AP test multiple choice. I'm hoping that means I got a 5.</p>

<p>I just got my grade back on the AP...4. Extremely dissapointed, especially coming from a 770 SAT II.</p>
