I want to know how much work an AP class is compared to regular and honor classes, thank you.
Depends on the class. It can vary drastically depending on the subject and the school you are taking it at. Be more specific with course names for an estimate.
It really depends on the class. AP environmental is quite easy, but if you’re thinking AP chem, then that’s a different story
I agree with the previous posters - all depends on the class. I managed to get A’s in AP US Government with absolutely no effort, while working my ass off in AP US History barely pulled me a C. What class were you thinking about taking? And what have you heard from people at your school about the course?
Here’s a list of the AP classes that I’m interested in (probably gonna take around 7)
- AP Calculus AB+BC
- AP Physic (doesn’t say whether its Physics 1, 2, or C. There’s only one AP Physics class)
- AP statistics
- AP French
- AP English (there’s one for the junior year and one for the senior year) *its apparently one of the hardest AP according to a friend
- AP Economics *rep for easy grade
- AP Chemistry
- AP World History
- AP Psychology
Have you ever taken an AP course before? If not, then I recommend only starting with around 2 and then you can work your way up if you want to - I started with 3 and that was a bad idea.
I’ve never taken an AP class before, I plan to do 2 in my sophomore and junior year and 3-4 in my senior
Perfect! That sounds great.
Just to reiterate, the workload also depends on the teacher–three of the six total AP English teachers at my school are known to be quite easy and the other three are not.
At my school, the AP classes are considerably harder than their non-AP counterparts and tend to have and require anywhere from moderate to extensive (history course) homework and studying. Part of how must time you need to devote to an AP depends on how well you understand the material and apply it as well as how well your teacher teaches and keeps your class on a timely track for the exam.
Take AP psychology, it’s a good sophomore year elective and an easier AP.
AP English language is typically a junior class taken after honors English 10.
AP chemistry is a second level chemistry class and requires honors chemistry.
AP physics 1as the number indicates is the first level in terms physics sequence so if that’s the class your school offers, you could also take it sophomore year.
