I'm taking Honors World History, but the class goes by the California State Standards for curriculum... should I self-study AP World? If so, how should I go by doing this? I also have to study for the May SAT at the same time so...

Oh and can I still take the test even though my school doesn't offer the class? Because our student store is only "selling" the AP Exams that we have...

Thanks, any help, advice, or personal experiences are greatly appreciated!

Oh, and if anyone is in AP World right now, what are you currently covering?

I am from california, too, and I am taking AP World History. According to the California Standards, you learn mostly about Europe, am i correct? Well, in AP World History, we cover from the Agricultural Revolution (8000 B.C.E.) to the present. The subject is really broad instead of specific, like the class you're taking. You have to learn about civilizations about Mesopotamia, Egypt, China, Greece, and Rome. That is 20% of the subject. Then you cover the Middle Ages, Chinese dynasties after Han, Indian Ocean maritime trade, Silk Road, the Byzantine Empire, the Black Death, the Mongolians, the Reformation, and there are way too many subjects that I cannot name them all. You can always go to college board and see the course description for AP World History.

In my opinion, I recommend self-studying for AP European History, if you have not taken it yet, because of what you are learning in your Honors World History class. Besides, AP European History only cover from the Renaissance to the present, shorter than learning APWH. But, if you want to self-study for the APWH test, I mostly recommend using a study guide instead of a textbook since a textbook (The Earth and Its People: A Global History, the book I am using in my class) is 1000 pages and you have five months to study.

If the student store does not "sell" the AP world history exam, then go ask your counselor about it.
