AP world, how should I start preparing?

I'm a rising sophmore, and I'm planning to prep for the AP world exam I will take at the end of the year (may or june). Now what's scaring me is that in my freshmen global class, my teacher was VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY lenient. yes he was that lenient that i had to put 5 verys.

anyways, what he did, he let us use our notes during the test, so i what i did? write down every single god damn detail in the text book and other sources and i always fricken aced his medium level difficulty tests. I studied a little, but my knowledge i remember on each topic is VERY limited.

I only remember a part from each section. then at one point, i stopped paying attention in class and just relied on notes for tests. Then for about 4 months i learned nothing. I know this is going to bite me back in the ass real hard sophmore year in world history, but hey! i have over half a year before my AP world exam. <-- lots of ppl cram before the test and score 4s or 5s. In my opinion a 4 would be solid for me, because I HATE HISTORY.

If i should start to find a study schedule, what would it be? an hour everyday until my exam? I think its a little too early because a lot of guides and textbooks have a lot of extraneous info. and it will be stupid and superfluous to be remembering redundant and useless things.

anys tips on how to start? btw i'm not planning to buy 5 guides like some of you guys do! LOL i personally think its not an efficent way to prep. (you can't remember all that info.)

Are you taking an AP World class? Or self studying for the test?

Why do you want to take the AP exam? If it’s to get out of a college distribution requirement and you think you can score high enough to do that, then go for it. Otherwise, colleges do not care if you take AP exams. They only care if you take AP classes.

My daughter took AP classes, then sat for some of the exams (not all). She just did the work for the classes and there was no need to study outside of that, because AP is a standardized curriculum. IOW, if you take the class, it will cover what you need to know.

If you’re trying to take an AP exam without having the class first, then you do need to pick up one of those study guides and do an hour or two each day until you score well on the practice exams. Bear in mind that you really can’t study for some AP tests, such as Language and Lit and English Lit.
