what are the apartments like near school? because after your first year, you most likely live off campus. when i visited davis, most of them looked old and creeky. does anyone have a different opinion? or does anyone know of newer buildings that students live in?

Sharps and Flats and Sorrento are sort of close? You just need to take the bus... they're not old or creeky at all. They look really clean, etc. :)

I'm living in La Salle next year. It's between Central and North Davis. It's just a straight bike path to campus. Doesn't look old or creaky at all. Best time to look for apartments would be during winter break, 'cause starting mid January to early February, the apartments open their waitlists =]

Tanglewood, 10 minute bus-ride, 10 minute bike-ride max. Very clean, pet-friendly.

EDIT: I'm not advertising, I just live here.

Tanglewood is a -very- nice complex; it was actually our first choice until one of us decided it was too expensive (2000 a month for 3br/2ba vs 1800 3br/2ba). Generally speaking, all of South Davis is really nice.
