Which is the cheapest?

Apartments

What's the price range for apartments?

Are the apartment of lesser quality or something?

~550-675 for a shared room in a 2 Bed 2 Bath around WWOOD
change in price =/= quality always...

not necess lesser quality... ucla has soem of the most exp dorms in the country

Thank you.

Also, you get food and utilities with the dorm price that UCLA offers.

Apartments don't include food and sometimes utilities are not included.

Although, utilities and food usually do not skyrocket the price of the housing from 550-675 (mme-lin) to what a UCLA dorm costs (1100 a month, I think?), so the apt ends up being cheaper.

o and u can def find cheaper places in the periphery: palms, culver city, mar vista... yadada and take the 8 or 12 every mornin'

dorms are a rip-off...anyone who thinks otherwise is probably staying in one right now

Or probably does not have to pay for it themselves :).

Although, I do miss the location. My uni apt is about a 10 minute longer walk :(!!!

Lazy.

It kind of annoys me that I may have to walk = to the amount of time it takes me to drive to school. But then again, the only experience I have with driving to UCLA is with classes that occurred during summer (low amount of people) and during times when there was no traffic (12-1PM).

But yeah, also lazy :).

What are the Gayley, Kelton (I guess there are two), and Levering Apartments like?

I'm on the http://www.thewestwood4.com website and the apartments look really nice. Can I get an insiders opinion?

Is walking distance bad?

Quality of apartments varies drastically just down a single block of North Village... and for small price differentials. Go figure.

I'm farthest in terms of No. Village and entering UCLA. It takes me about 15-20 mins to get from my apt. to Pauley Pavillion. And then... another 10-12 minutes to wherever building on-campus. In short, I'm walking for at least an hour everyday.

You get used to it.

That's fine. The time spent at the gym can be used getting to class and back.

my guess is that the apartments are much more boring than the dorms. In my first night at apartment, me and my roommates used our own computers the whole night

apartments are definitely preferable to dorms once you're past your first year.

meh... up to you to make what u want of it.

comfort, space, price$$$, buying own food & making it, privacy >>> living in stuffy dorm room & socializing.... for me --

idk. dorming was OK and pretty fun but i got tired of it and wanted more time alone that and well,

living in triple with 2 other girls with bathroom? 1 shared bed 1 bath? 9-11K/year?

vs.

2 bed 2 bath 3 other girls .. 2girls/room.... 578/month?

Bleh.

Well that's quite an unfair calculation because that 578, I assume, does not include food or utilities. If it does, I apologize. Also, if it does, I ENVY YOU. But regardless, it's still hella cheaper to go apt, but saying it that way makes it seem a lot better to go apt.

I kind of want dorm again because I'm a transfer, and this is my second year here. My first year, I hung out with my old friends from hs, and because of that, I haven't met anyone or made any friends.

Food and utilities? HOW MUCH WILL YOU NEED TO SPEND FOR FOOD?! $10 a day? Eat Burger Kign twice? 300 for the month?

utitlies? 200 for cable tv, itnernet, gas electricy whatever (if u notice thw TWC cable/internet special or whatever) split between 4 people? 50? OMFGG ... how badly do u need to watch cable TV? only thing on is pure crap.. otehrwise DL them on torrents or some ****

--> 350 + 587 --> 900? 900*9 = 8100? Tat's still less than dorming

and really... your fat ass isnt goign to spend 10/a day on food if ur smart about things

plus how can u compare living in a double (in 2 bed 2 bath) to living in a TRIPLE 1 bed 1 bath where the latetr STILL costs more?!

I pay 587 for rent... Roughly 50/month for internet and utitlies crap. Ergh and eating? Grocery Store. Shop smart! asiodhosiadfjsaiojr3290r790fasdojfl;dasasd

Must factor. in. living with 2 other chicks. in ****ing confined space with 1 bath and unwanted guests... both inside and wtihin the hall (at times)... being supervised like a child in dorm floor... that sort of thing... and youre still payign more?! WHAOHAWODH siojsdioadasdas

Haha, I've heard some of my friends tell me about how they don't know how to cook and because of that they spend a tonnnnnnn on food. I can cook enough to be able to shop at a market for cheap and make my own food. I think I can get by with 20-30 a week if I go home to shop at the azn places.

Well, I can adapt to either situation, so they are comparable to me. But then again, I have yet to live in my 2bd2bath apt for longer than half a day, so maybe when I've lived there longer, I can fairly compare it. I'll probably love the space more :D.
