Apartments

Does anyone have any advice to offer on getting an apartment in Charlottesville such as what to look out for, places not to get an apartment, etc.?

Also, I want to sublet my apartment in the summer. Can anyone gauge if people will need apartments over the summer? Or whether there's a significant amount of people that sublet apartments for the summer?

Thanks.

I haven’t used this site myself, but I think [this is a good “first stop” for info about Off Grounds housing](http://www.uvastudentcouncil.com/offgrounds/listings/).

Sublets are pretty common…some people post signs around Grounds, but I bet some use [the Hoo Has It board](http://www.hoohasit.com/) or something else internal of which I’m not aware. :)

Good luck!

apartmentratings dot com are useful also, and brac dot com

If you’re looking for an apartment at this point, I’d hurry up. Most of the good ones have already been snatched up for next year.

That’s not true, you can get good apartments in July. Not the best, but still good. The corner has a lot of places. Just don’t walk late at night.

Actually, the Alumni Association is having a housing seminar next tuesday (Feb 2nd, 5 PM) where they’ll be covering a lot of this. Here’s a link to the facebook event:

I snatched a luxury apartment (JPA 1815) for 350/month during the summer.
