i sent my stuff via courier so im hoping it probably arrived safely. but yes i think i will give them a call on monday just to make sure… thanks =)

All the materials can arrive their safely, but the staff sometimes makes mistakes checking items into the system. That is where problems can occur, especially when you have 30,000+ applications.

i sent an email with additional info for my application, and was suddenly told this:
Additionally, it appears as if you have had an incomplete application since late September and should have been notified through email of this. If you do not know which documents are missing, please contact our office. Additionally, If you have further questions, please contact our office.

but i mailed all my stuff via courier and post office records show that it was delivered on 29 october!! i’ve emailed the office already so im hoping everything will be ok. did anyone else have this problem??? im really worried now

ilovefhf- was the above email from a person within admissions or a message on the place you check you status?

Did you start you application online or login to apply in late September? I’m guessing that is what the September date references.

It’s not been more than 4 weeks if the package was delivered Oct 29. It’s only been two and your application arrived at one of the peak periods for IU admissions. They will not consider it until all required materials are received.

I’m going to say this again to ease your mind a bit. Between 10/15-11/1 was a peak time in admissions at IU. Thousands arrive. Based on what happened here at CC last year I can tell you that IU seems to do MASSIVE updates at one time. Your individual admissions page may not change forever and then suddenly it says Congratulations.

Case in point. DD did the online app before the end of August last year. Transcripts didn’t go out until late Sept. We didn’t know when her GC sent her transcripts, but gave it a week. Her SATs were sent in May. For weeks the site indicated they had not received her SATs. I called. They had everything, but the system that tracks what is received had not been updated. That is what the admissions people told me directly. Even after her acceptance SATs continued to show as missing for awhile.

I also wonder if additional info you send slows the process down for you???

Would you rather the office be careful and considerate with your app or fast to update?

yeah i calculated the time wrongly. anyway my online application was done in august, not september.
and im just worried because its not just that my status hasnt changed, but that the admissions person actually told me my stuff was incomplete in an email, to answer your question.

to make myself clearer…
basically the online application was submitted on 11 august.
all the required documents were submitted and reached the school on 29 october.
i sent an email with “addition info” (not much actually) and when they replied the email they reminded me that my application is “incomplete”

could it be that they just haven’t processed it even though its already reached the school???

Did the e-mail tell you what was missing. It will take them 30 seconds over the phone to tell you what is missing. Then ask them to check the physical file for the item they tell you is missing; sometimes they make mistakes entering what they they have received.

If your application is incomplete, you will not get in, period. The admissions counselor for your state only makes decisions on complete applications, that is, when they have AND ARE AWARE THAT THEY HAVE – (1) online or written application, (2) hs transcripts, (3) SAT/ACT scores and (4) counselor’s letter. Incomplete applications never make it to the admissions counselor’s desk. Call them to find out exactly what is missing. They can tell you over the phone what is missing (or at least what they think is missing; what they think is missing may actually be with the other materials-- just not checked into the computer properly-- this is what happened to my son two years ago-- he would not have got in if we hadn’t called IU to ask what was missing and the person on the phone had not gone physically back to where the physical applications were located [it took him a week to do it, but he finally did] and found that the supposedly missing transcript was there, just not checked into the computer as being there). If you do nothing and they don’t have all the materials, they won’t make a decision, no matter how long ago you submitted your package and regardless of whether all the materials are actually there or not.

There is a good chance that your materials did all arrive at the admissions office. The problem may be that they weren’t check into the online system properly. If that is the case and no one corrects the error, even if all your stuff is in the admissions office, your file will never get to the admissions counselor’s desk, because IU only evaluates applications that they think are complete.

ok thanks a lot i shall call them later. does the office open at 8 or 9??? i really hope they have all my stuff…i made sure i sent it in time for 1st november so it’ll really suck if i miss that deadline because they didnt file my stuff
